I'm quite sure if you come to Bathurst in 2017 you will hear V8 engines in the 1000

Should the Gen 2 car be four wheel drive?
Block's 4wd mustang
http://youtu.be/5qanlirrRWs

Many vehicles in Australasia are either front wheel drive or four wheel drive so they have powered front wheels.
The need for a low mount engine in a track car might mean electric hub motors for the front wheels i.e Evans electric/ Yasa with regen braking?
Make it easier to get out of the sand/ gravel traps perhaps.

It's astonishing that we are only 24 months into the CotF platform and major changes are already being planned for just two years time.

Didn't Mark Skaife & Tony Cochrane tell us the V8 engine was the critical element going forward irrespective of the road-going landscape?

.............so, it make perfect sense that Warmbottom is trying to kill the B12 and the cars that run there, as he has admitted defeat on keeping AV8SC (as a 4 door v8 saloon) a going concern and now wants to poach the GT cars as a replacement

if i am so incorrect, then why are 2 doors and multi cylinder combinations going to be permissable.
they have always had parity issues with the 4 door/V8 rules, so come 2017/8 it will be back to "race what you bring until we ban you" or clip yor wings to slow you down. been done before , hence the split to V8 only

The only feesible way for Lexus to be involved is to bring or adapt their new GT3 car.

Likewise any other manufacturer who's looking to join from '17-onwards.

GT3 won't be eligible, all cars will have to run on the Gen 2 supercar platform.

The White Paper Is Out

DJR should buy back their old Sierra stock, weld one of those 680bhp Cosworths in the nose of the Falcon, and watch as the thing blows off the V8 previously in its place..

I wonder what this will mean for the current v8 motors, a bit more liberty maybe or will other motors be attempted to be made even

What a surprise news there from V8 Supercars. While I like how they put engine variety for 2017, I think they should add success ballast too.

Very, controlling competitiveness between the various engine types will be a big one.

I don't think we need to get into promoting these gimmicks do we?

Winning needs to be rewarded , not penalised

Sure that I like to see winners rewarded for their efforts, but would you like to see a driver dominating all races?

Personally, success ballast is better than balance of performance.

But if he knows he's coming into every race 40kg heavier, he'll just set the car up accordingly.

Paritise every car to be the same... aero, weights over axles, engine power/torque etc etc etc... then its a matter for the set up gurus and the pilots to get the very best from the cars.

Much better than success ballast
