expaddockrunner should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Motogp at Silverstone 2013

MotoGP will use the pre-2011 Silverstone pits and startline from this season rather than the 'wing' complex on the run to Abbey.
Both Formula 1 and MotoGP stayed with the paddock between Woodcote and Copse when Silverstone's new track layout was first introduced in 2010, before moving to the wing area the following year.
Silverstone managing director Richard Phillips said the main reason for the change was so that MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 could share the same paddock.
For the past two years the feeder categories have been based in the old paddock as there was insufficient room in the new section where MotoGP was based.
"The move will certainly improve the fans' overall experience of the MotoGP weekend," said Phillips.
"The paddocks will be less spread out and closer to all the off-track entertainment, creating an even better atmosphere.
"It also means Copse will become the first corner, once again, which was always popular with riders and fans alike.

Really, one of the most ill thoght out things I have ever seen at a reactrack for years, remember all the blurb saying this was all about the fans and bringing racing closer to them!

What a joke, it takes about 30 minutes to walk from the old area to the Wing, and once there you do get a decent view of some areas, the bit you dont get a good view from is the new part, completely flat, miles from the track, especially the bikes which are over a hundred feet away!

PLease soeone take it back to Donington, better track, more history and better suited to bikes. Bike racing at Silverstone is rubbish

Am I right in thinking that Silverstone's upgrades were built solely for MotoGP? I know that when the track plans were drawn up that Silverstone had lost its F1 contract to Donington and had instead concentrated on MotoGP so I'm presuming that the building of the Wing was incorporated into their plans

It works for F1 because they like to keep the great-unwashed at as bigger distance as possible (takes circa 30-40 mins to walk from the S/F grandstand to the paddock which is all of 30 meters away as the crow flies).

For all other purposes, it's utterly useless.

A entirely sensible decision by Dorna!! And I don't always agree with them.

As with most circuits nowadays, everything is changed for F1!! Sod the other series, they're not important.

They only thing the Wing is good for is all the VIPs/ celebrities of F1. The 'normal' fan is not thought about at all.

As far as I remember, after Silverstone lost F1 to Donington, the new track layout was designed for MotoGP.
