V8 big boys at Wakefield Park?

Can some one tell me why the V8 main show hasn't considered Wakefield Park as an option. I hear it is a great track, and from what I've seen on tv it looks like it would produce good racing. Is there a reason why they can't go there? Is Wakefield Park in "NORTHERN NSW"?

No Wakefield Park is in Golbourn south of Sydney and It is beyond me where TC was refering to as "northern Nsw" unless he's going to have a street race around Coffs Harbour or something. I DOUBT IT.

I've always wondered why WP has not been included on the Main event. Maybe because Eastern Creek and Oran Park are already on the calendar where as EC is NOT on Konica Calendar ( will be next year but has not previouslY been).

I'd been led to believe that Wakefield's considered too small for V8's.

yeah I doubt the big boys will go to Wakefield as it is reasonably small and the pit facilities are not up to the usual standard of V8's , but having said that it is a fantastic little cicuit and produces some good action and the owners should be proud of what they have done there but the big boys wonbt venture there , but im sure the Konica series will for the next few years anyway

Didnt Garry Holt and Garry Willmington have something to do with the ownership or set up of Wakefield Park etc .

Yeah, I believe them, amoungst others now run the show. Before then, the previous owners had no intention of running even the Konica series out there...

I was there today for the Super Tourers, and while it isn't all that bad, i must say i am suprised that the Konica's go there, considering the standards that TC has. It isn't all that big, no permanent pits etc... although it must be said that the original owners only really intended it for historic type racing.

I guess this was talked about on V8Superstars? Did i miss much?

Garry Holt and Michael Spiese AFAIK entered into a contract to run Wakefield Park for the actual owners when it was sold 2 years ago. Garry Willmington was brought in, as an employee, as Venue/Racing manager.

Last May there was a big bun fight and Holt and mate 'departed' the track and the owners took a more hands on approach - all for the better. Garry is still there and still pushing the track ahead. (Catch up with me one day and I'll let you know what happened - would be funny if it wasn't true...)

Give it time to expand as it would need lots of money injected for the main V8's to get there..

The track was built for club racing, it was not built for championship rubbish.
It was built so the little guy could race. (not just historics)
I don't think there is much money to be made running CAMS events, so they may have made abit of a blue in getting CAMS onside. (What does CAMS give in return for their fees?)
