Buckshot,
I don't know what country you live in, but the Volvo S60, BMW 3 series, Alfa 156, and Honda Civic are sold in Australia. And yes, they will all compete in the ETCC.

Then there is the DTM. The Merc CLK, and Audi TT are sold in Australia, and the Holden Astra Coupe is on its way soon.

The BTCC? MG's are sold in Australia, so are Protons, Astra coupe [see above], Lexus IS200, Pug coupe, Honda Civic.

So I really don't know why they would be irrelevant to the Australian car market.

Why was the ASTC shown at midnight? The field explains everything.

If you are a true motorsport fan you would like to see more motorsport on TV. I cannot believe that there are so many people in this country who think touring cars begin and end with V8Supercar. I love the V8s, I watch every round. I read all the articles in the mags. But I also love overseas touring car rcaing, whether it is in Europe or Asia, NZ or South America.

Surely, Buckshot, you enjoyed watching the BTCC during the late 1990s?

I'm with Michael H. Just about all the cars competiting in oversea championships are sold here. As far as i'm concerned there can never be too much motorsport on TV, look at all the ballsports we have to put up with. The sooner we see ETC, DTM, BTCC, STCC and so on on aussie TV the better, it will be long overdue

we can only hope

With Channel 7 having lost the AFL surely they will have a sports void to fill in their programming ... we can only hope that they opt for motor racing. Is the re-emergence of the 2001 BTCC on Optus Vision's C7 Sport a taste of things to come????

I'm just being practical.

Australian TV and media in general does not care about motorsport.

On Foxtel in September we are getting the first four rounds of the 2002 BTCC.

Round 1 10pm Saturday 7th
Round 2 7.30pm Saturday 14th
Round 3 7.30pm Saturday 21st
Round 4 7.30pm Saturday 28th

Plus repeats during the week.

At least we are getting something

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but might as well use this one instead of a whole new one

Starting Friday morning, FOX Sports is showing the opening rounds of the LG Super Racing Weekend, which is headlined by the European Touring Car Championship and the FIA GT Championship.

Whether the program will include the ETC or the FIA GT's (maybe both) i'm not sure, but should be good stuff nonetheless.
