Nope... 5 TEGA board members at the moment, Mr O'Reilly, Mr Jones, Mr Stone, Mr Reed, Mr Rogers....
Anyone else is a consult with no executive power.... |

Well apart from Kim Jones and Ross Stone, the others can all get knotted. I think it should be a 7 man board anyway, be able to cover more fields and opinions.

Seven members is a good idea with a couple of independent members for non-bias opinions or they be a couple of refs to stop the other members knocking each others heads off.

Hey, at least we have one which is probably more than I can say for a lot of teams out there. Nobody told me it was going to be a Christmas party though... maybe I'll have to take my special little party dress

You had better get the carpenter in to get '03 on the list of the 10 wins
I think Mark Skaife would be a good choice on the TEGA board, for all the faults we sometimes seem to find surrounding him, the fact remains the team he now operates has won a significant number of events, titles and championships in recent years, so it makes sense to have a representative of a winning Holden team on the board. And being a stickler for rules and regulations, as in knowing them inside out and backwards, who else would better represent Holden in being able to make a contribution to these processes than someone who knows them intimately? The only issue still in my head is that it is likely to absorb a lot of MS's time. |

What I think you will find is that the newly constituted 7 man TEGA board will be substantially stronger technically, administratively and corporately.
So in having commercial people involved as independent directors on top of the Ford and Holden representatives who will mainely be the regulations and technical experts, the board will be able to assess anything put to them from AVESCO, and have sufficient skill across the table to assess the worthiness of any particular AVESCO activities. You might also find that AVESCO is given a clear direction to focus its commercial activities towards an end goal that is financially sound, clearly understood and well communicated, and that AVESCO is accountable to TEGA at the highest possible level. Sometimes these kinds of things slip between the cup and the lip when a group of focused technocrats are allowed to rule the roost, without a significant commercial grounding beyond the operation of their own team |

So NOW it's a 7 man board?! Maybe your posts aren't the only ones people grab ideas from GTR (although I'm sure it was on the cards well before I said it)
I hope John Crennan is one of the blokes who gets in though, not because he was the boss of HRT, but because he knows the business, both technically and commercially. Just look what he did with HRT, took them from practically nothing to the powerhouse they are today. AVESCO need someone like that at the head, not a starry eyed wonder like Cochrane is becoming |

Crenno is effectively persona non grata with too many teams for that particular ticket to get up. Or at least I hope that to be the case.
There are enough Ford and Holden representatives available to push their respective barrows, the last thing the board needs is another one sided 'independent' director The 7 man thing has been floated for a while, its to be settled upon at a TEGA board meeting including all franchise owners in the next few weeks, and is a very positive step from all accounts. The thing that will make most sense about the new structure is that there will be only 2 reps from the red and blue side of the fence, to look after technical issues and to understand the ramifications of AVESCO policy on the teams. The 2 new seats should be wholly independent, and be able to bring to the boardroom a stronger understanding of the legal ramifications of any issue on the table, and a stronger understanding of the commercial ramifications in a broader business sense of any issue on the table, without slight based on manufacturer alignment. For mine, I dont consider it is either fair or appropriate that people who are obviously incredibly strong at a technical application from their many years of contribution to the sport, be asked to understand whether the latest gestation of the Holden Motor Sport structure is legal or not, when they have not got the specific knowledge, training or understanding to make comment without further research. Directors these days are responsible at an extremely high level for the activities of the company they represent, and in this case, the level of corporate governance can only improve by bringing knowledgeable functional specialists to the table..... to arguably keep TC honest Whether the current chairman is part of that deal, given that he has largely not achieved significantly, in either roping in the previously untethered HRO/HMS structure, nor in directing specifically the activities of AVESCO towards a common goal, is yet to be determined... but I wouldnt be placing too many bets on that... |

Thats a good plan. Wonder if I would be allowed to put a cage in it and take it for a 24hr spin at Bathurst in November? Would that be covered by insurance
I am sure I could find 3 like minded people to join in |
