BLYTON RACE CIRCUIT (Lincolnshire)

Dates :-
March 13th - Launch / Test Day
April 17th - Round 1
June 19th - Round 2
July 31st - Round 3
August 14th - Round 4

I notice that some of the dates above are the same as the MDA/BTRDA Clubmans championship, has CDMC joined forces with these??

Can you give some more info, as it is only 8 weeks until your first event??, also is the June 19th and August 14th meeting also part of the BTRDA/MDA championship??

What classes is this championship for?

As Above this has nothing to do with Peter Stott

Cramlington & District Motor Club Rallycross Championship is running in Conjunction with the MDA.

The technical regs and entries will be available shortly, these can be obtained by e-mailing your name and address to

rallycross@cramlington-district-motorclub.co.uk

championship registration will be £36.00, entries at minute are looking about £ 180.00 with a possibility of this being reduced depending on entries, this is purely a clubman event and we will be trying our best to keep entry costs to a minimum.

The class structure should be available in the next few days, all cars will be catered for from juniors to super modified and clubman 4 wheel drive ( no super cars )

So is this the MDA championship but with a new name or something completely different? (so is it instead of the MDA championship or as well as?)

Do you need to pay registration for both championships (MDA and CDMC) or just one? I'm just trying to work out where this fits in relation to the other championships - what's the gap it's trying to fill? Is it an alternative to the MDA, BTRDA or is it more of a co-operative with them? (run shared dates but also some stand alone events)

Cramlington and District Motor Club Rallycross Championship

Registration fee £36.00 this includes membership to CDMC

Suggested class structure

Junior class - as per MSA Year Book regulations
(competitor will need to confirm suitability of chosen vehicle with MSA)

Senior class's
upto 1400cc - standard engine and induction, gearbox is free all other MSA tech regs apply
1401cc - 1600cc as above
1601cc - 2000cc as above
Super modified incorporating 4 wheel drive.

Class structure is laid out for Clubman budget competition

Entry Fees are suggested to be around £180.00 with discount relevant to entry level

Dates :-

13th March - Test Day and Championship Launch Day
Round 1 - 17th April
Round 2 - 19th June
Round 3 - 31st July
Round 4 - 14th August

Awards will be given for 1st '2nd and 3rd in each class on event day and for final class possision at end of season dinner
Additonal 1st ,2nd and 3rd overall in Championship will also be given at end of season dinner.

five rounds had been planned but it was felt Championship Permit would not be issued in time.

This is a 'new' championship to run along side and incorporating some dates as the MDA / BTRDA championships

They ran with BRDA
then they ran with PSM
then they ran with LHMC
now they are running with CDMC does this mean no more LHMC if so what happened there!
Also I notice that two rounds clash with Autocross championship rounds. one of which is organised by CDMC

I thought the MDA/BTRDA were running alongside the British championship at some of the rounds this year?

I think you need to get your facts straight. The MDA never jumped ship, it was more like they were pushed.

The BRDA dropped the MDA and not the other way round. They have always run alongside the BTRDA and moved to PSM when the Open series started up several years ago.

The MDA are still running with LHMC at some events, but not all events so the need to run other events is now shared by various clubs, hence sharing dates with CDMC (these are the Autocross boys that made up a chuck of the Revivals cars in the Open series)

hi guys my name is Dave Wellden i am Chairman of CDMC and the current Chairman of the MSA Autocross Rallycross Sub-Committee,
i will try and explain the reasoning behind the creation of the CDMC Rallycross Championship and hopefully answer some questions raised here

first of all can i say we do not want to conflict with any other Championship that may be running at this current time, our aim is to provide a Championship for those that are not competing at all for whatever reason,

as it has been stated CDMC Rallycross boys made up a big chunk of the Open Championship and they are not competing for a number of reasons,
either their vehicles don’t fit class structures, they can’t afford the travelling cost that is currently involved to complete a season or both, we identified this problem not just in our own club but all over the Northern area. It there for made sense to create a Championship to cater for those individuals and the best way forward that we could see was a single venue Championship in a central area to all i.e. Blyton,
I am pleased to say that CDMC have made agreement with the MDA to work in partnership to achieve just that.

the issue regarding CDMC running date that clash's with their Autocross date is not an issue, like i said we are not trying to take competitors from other Championships, CDMC will be in good position with the assistance of the MDA to host both events, but this will be avoided next year when dates are organised so club members may take part in Championships off THEIR choice.

a quick window of potential class structure has been posted but additional thought has been given to the possibility of introducing a STD factory 4 wheel drive class and splitting Super Modified into
1400cc, 1600cc, 2000cc, 2001cc + and 4wheel drive this will give 10 class's, 9 being senior class's
Regs and Registration docs are being created as we speak and i would expect to apply for permit by end of the week.
i hope i have been able to answer some questions and maybe put some minds at rest, Motorsport is our game not Politics we want to keep it simple and affordable.

i would like some feedback on class structure, I’m conscious that we need to provide for as many as we can but we still need to keep the competition fair for everybody, i would like ( if at all possible ) to structure the class's in a manner that we do not allow any one individual to be able to dominate the Championship from the start, i think this would turn people off.
i would suggest the following,

Unmodified Class's
Junior - as per MSA year book

up to 1600cc , unmodified induction cylinder head and engine block,
gearbox will open to LSD all other MSA regulations apply.

1601cc and over, as above

4x4 - factory production class, all other MSA regulations apply.

Super Modified Class's

up to 1600cc , no restriction , all other MSA regulations apply.

1601cc and over, no restriction , all other MSA regulations apply.

4X4, no restrictions , all other MSA regulations apply.

this would give a reasonable number of class's without diluting them too much.

i intend to run a time handicap which will be applied to all competitors qualifying for finals, which i feel would give all an equal chance of scoring well for overall Champion, it may however be necessary to run a separate
Super Modified 4X4 Championship or implement an additional time
Penalty to keep them in line with the rest of the field?

These are my thoughts and not implemented in regs at this time, it’s your Championship and i value your views

Good luck with this new inititive, this can only be good for rallycross. Its a great chance for new drivers to have a go without spending lots of money, may bring back some old names and gives the sport a real chance to grow in the north of the country.
Hopefully no one will try and make things difficult for this to work as surely it is to everyones benefit that rallycross at clubmans level grows and no doubt this in time will then feed a few on into the BRC.

Hi Dave

I agree with lesser classes its easier to manage, although the cutoff used to be 1650cc back in the old days.

Is the standard (non modified class) aimed at Stock Hatch type cars, this obviously allows the 1600cc and the 2 litre cars already running. Plus this would allow Rally cars although these would be heavier.

Will the races be run separate from the BTRDA/MDA races, as I know some drivers would probably like to run in both, does that mean double the track time ?

Interesting that you want to run a handicap system, as I know both Richard and Scott tried this when the Revivals class was first thought up, but I know alot of the Autocross boys didn't want to run a handicap.

Seems like a good idea Autocrossers moving into Rallycross then on to the BRC gives British Rallycross a tier system and something to progress on to.

surely you mean Autocross not Autograss,either or it matters not.
like i said i am not wanting to take competitors from other sports
its all about getting cars that have sat idle back on the track and new competitors building buget vehicles to compete, yes we will get migration from other sports or Championships but that happens every seasson depending on what people want, it will be a seperate Championship from BTRDA/MDA and BRC so you will have to reg with which ever Championship you want to weather or not you get double runs im not sure but will get the answer, i would have said double run means double entry money lol.
to Chasing Cars your on the money mate if we can develop from entry unmodified to modified to 4x4 modified then on to the BRC then that is a sound structure for Rallycross development in the country. Gain some experiance develop the car and your self then have a go in the BRC.
MiniMadness, stock hatch is an influance in that class, we want to keep it basic grass root with the oportunity to develop.
