He will be as welcome as any other driver trying to "make it" in Nascar. A top 15 in the Busch series should be achievable considering that many in the field are part-timers from the Cup series and do not do as well accumulating total points. Whether or not he can really make it....we will have to wait and see.

unless......he has the kind of car that can stay in the lead pack week-in an week-out.... the top 5 teams cant afford to wreck each other every saturday. |

No, Fittipaldi should have done a full year in the Busch Series (perhaps he felt that he, a Champ Car driver, was "too good" for the Busch Series or something) so he could fully adjust to driving a stock car and then he should have tried to find a better team than Petty Enterprises for his Cup effort. I think Jourdain has a good chance at becoming successful - IF he can adjust to the heavier stock cars, that is. It's not as easy as people seem to think sometimes. I might have missed this in previous discussions, but Jourdain's only been brought (bought?) across to/by NASCAR so that they can make a successful break into Mexico, right? After all, the home crowd has to have someone to cheer for at the Busch Series round at Hermanos Rodriguez, don't they?
Regardless of the hows or whys, I hope he does well. If he gets team he needs to help him get his head around what's needed to adapt to NASCAR racing on ovals, he should do okay. Top 20 in the final standings, at least. |
