They won't be doubling up, if it ever happens.

If there is ever such a seismic shift in local racing that isn't GT racing I suspect the British style might be more easy to fund.

I can't wait for the 2030 V8Supercar title when the Commodore VFII wins its 15th title straight under Gen2 rules.

Let the back pedalling commence!!!

Possibility of delaying Gen2 a year, maybe two.

Supercars Gen2 test mule already delayed. Missed it's two scheduled race meets.

What is going on at Supercars HQ?????

I'd say it's just code for "no new manufacturers are interested yet"

If Volvo and Nissan stick around, maybe they'll change engines, possibly bodywork. I can't see Ford or Holden doing anything at least for another couple of years.

Raises a few questions though doesn't it? Ostensibly, the delay has a lot to do with lack of manufacturer interest. Now, I'm just a simple tradesman, but when undertaking something as large as Gen2, which is essentially meant to be new manufacturer bait, wouldn't you go to the manufacturers first and find out what would get them racing (if anything) and then base your new rules around that? At the moment it seems like they just assumed two doors and turbos would blow everyone away and now that it really hasn't we hear talk of delays of test mules and rule sets (great look for a category asking people to invest millions) and Gen3 discussions already (with Gen2 only a pipe dream at present).

And people think Foxtel is the problem...

I wonder if the Foxtel contract has stipulations on grid sizes/diversity?

Ah so rather than ignorance of the situation it just a simple case of talking to the manufacturers, gathering relevant information (press releases too, oh my!) and yet still having the incompetence to stuff it up.

Once again, thanks for the inside scoop super slueth

Well as you said, you're just a simple tradesman.

Have they stuffed it up? Remains to be seen

Considering they took the 'V8' out of 'V8Supercars' in anticipation of new powerplants and manufacturers, its definitely significantly something...

For once we agree - Gen2 is significantly nothing. The manufactures seem to think so too

They did in their logo. To much self generated fanfair. To celebrate Gen 2. Which has been received with zero fanfair.

Nothing is right.

No new manufactures for Gen2.

No sign of supercars test mule anywhere.

No date for Gen2 start.

No solid news on any team actually running anything Gen2.

That's a whole lot of nothing.

agreed, but all these negative comments are based on an article that suggest they may delay it a year, Thats hardly a failure/stuff up/significant issue. just a timing change.

As for the logo, well so what, they changed the logo, no big deal at all

'All these negative comments' aren't just from one article, they are the culmination of a bunch of recent articles where they have cited Ford (not interested), Nissan and Volvo (complete uncertainty about the future in the category) and V8 Supercars (or is that just Supercars these days?) stating that their Gen 2 project is at the very least delayed and already talking about Gen 3.

It was a big enough deal to tell the world via press release about their logo.
It was a big enough deal to drop the 'V8' from it in preparation for Gen 2 and the anticipated new and old marques that would embrace it in 2017 (currently sitting at zero and holding steady).
