peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
was an interesting race. Nice and tight at the end, different strategies in play.

Lucky for Frosty that theer was no late race SC

Had no issues with the russell pass, doing what he should be doing

Exactly. Frosty came across as a bit of a whinger regarding the pass. Why not just slightly roll out of it on the straight brake a little earlier and let him go? Would have lost less time to those following than he did.

Frosty is my driver, but he's always a bit of a whinger. Good race!

Wasn't like Russell had blistering pace at the end either or was trying to hold his place to someone coming up behind, I would much rather the car buffer behind than just in front for as long as possible. But yeah didn't really need to whine about it, now if he had lost the win

Two fabulous races. Amazing what allowing/encouraging different strategies can do to a race that is also uninterrupted by the Safety Car.

Only thing missing was TV viewers.
And spectators...

It's only this morning when everyone is talking about fabulous races that I think, "probably should have watched the highlights".

Without FTA broadcast my interest is waning further and further. Lots of other motorsport to watch or be involved in.

No Schenken on the weekend either, which would explain the lack of safety cars for parrots on the infield, etc.

I agree 2 great races over the weekend, Sunday's being the best of the two.

Not quite the results you want from your 2 cars when you have a Penske visiting though. Cutting the track and unsafe release, should not be happening. Looking like rookies doing that in front of the owner. Worried about Pye keeping his ride after a weekend like that.

Dunlop races were also very good

There is a succession plan in progress.
Sometime this year or at the end Tim will annouce his retirement

Penske has a tradition of signing drivers and sticking with them, not flicking them after their first full season in the organisation.

Unless of course Pye "does a Cogan", i'd say it's safe to say he'll be in that seat next year.

That is not to say that they won't add a third car, they run 4 in Indycars afterall.

After thinking about this since Sunday I think you are correct in that Penske will retain Pye, but not if results continue to decline throughout the rest of 2016, as there is a lot of racing to go allowing time to impress.
I also recall reading something about making hard decisions after Bathurst which Penske will attend.
We shall see... I'm hoping he keeps the ride and can get the results as the year progresses.

Peckstar posted a link about them rejecting 3 car model in another thread.

EDIT - http://www.speedcafe.com/2016/05/10/...hird-car-2017/

There's lots in this article to suggest we are on the money with regard to Penske's thoughts on Pye

Wasn't a good look to have half the field barreling down into turn 1 with rain falling when Caruso was stuck there for over 3/4 of a lap.
Trigger finger Tim would have been a bit more sensible on that one.

Like at Symmons Plains??

What happened with Caruso was fine, just as it was at Symmons. The drivers are adults and can see the flags.
