Mark F1 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Favourite Monaco Memories

So many to choose from

Ones that stick out in my mind:

* Panis coming from 14th on the grid to win in 1996

* Mansell/Senna last 5 laps in 1992 !

* Salo finishing 5th in 1997 after going through the race with no pitstops

* Senna/Bellof/Prost battle in the rain in 1984 !!

* Barrichello second for Stewart in their debut season in 1997

I wish i could've seen 1984 though. If only they'd let it run a few laps longer.

1996 for sure. 1984 and 1992, I have only seen highlights of but, yes they too would have been great I am sure.

1992 was a great finish, but more a demonstration of how impossible it is to pass.

1998 was special for us Mika fans as it marked Mika's first win at the Principality.

Others I've read about or seen on video:

1972 - Jean-Pierre Beltoise takes BRM's final grand prix victory with a masterful performance in atrocious conditions

1981 - Gilles manages to win in his truck-like Ferrari

1969 - Graham Hill takes his 5th Monaco win, and last grand prix victory

1982 - Crazy last two laps - 'The Grand Prix Nobody Wanted to Win!'

Ah yes, one of the classics isn't it!!!

The fact that 2 of the drivers on the podium didn't take the chequered flag is quite frankly remarkable!!!

making up for 1996 Rain + Monaco = crash on first lap!

other than that......1992, for obvious reasons, 2001, Eddie getting Jags first (and so far only) podium.

I still have the Autosport edition of the race. The headline reads: Nine Points, Anybody?

To sum up that amazing race of 82:

Arnoux in the Renault races away from everyone but then, 20 laps in, spins and stalls at the swimming pool. Prost in the sister Renault takes over and, an hour or so later, with just a few laps to run now, is still on course to win. De Cesaris in the Alfa takes over - or would have but had just parked it at Massanet, also out of fuel, the driver to be found sitting, sobbing on the other side of the guardrail! "And de Cesaris ... but ... well ... that means to say Nigel Mansell could win this race! Well, hang on a minute, no ..." For a moment, we all thought Derek Daly in the Williams minus rear wing might do it but he'd parked it at Tabac. Leaving ... Patrese, who, unseen by the cameras, had got a push from the marshals (they reckoned his spun car had stopped in a dangerous position), bump-started the engine back into life to come through and win. Thing is, even he didn't he had won until he got back to parc ferme where his mechanics mobbed him! Pointed finger on chest, he looked at them. "What? Me?"

Confused? Weren't we all!

1996 sticks out for me.

MS hitting wall on lap 1.
Hill having engine failure.
Alesi having a problem.
MH, Salo and EI all hitting each other at same corner.
Panis winning from DC.

Glen, that was either 1983 or 1985. The 1984 wet race was either the year before, or the year after. I'm inclined to say 1985.

The 1984 race had the same pompiers watering the track in the tunnel so that the "wet" tyres didn't have to handle dry, dusty tarmac on the opening laps.

For me, 1984 was just incredible. The amazing Bellof/Senna chase for the finish more than made up for Nigel Mansell throwing away what would have been his first win, thanks to an unexpectedly greasy strip of white paint!

92 was a lot of fun. That has to be the best one. Another promising one could have been 96 if Alesi's Benetton had made it to the flag but unfortunately it didnt and Oliver Panis picked up a lucky but deserved win for Ligier.
