Robyn Slater should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Those old 50s buses were one of the highlights of our holiday in Malta a couple of years ago.

Very cheap basic transport around the island. Reminded me of the old school buses we used to have back in the day.

Now being replaced with Euro poo.

My licence came back today, it was posted on Wednesday so I can only blame the post man for the delay but then he is nearly as old as Delta and takes two days to walk up our road.

Mine too (my Clerks and Stewards licence that is) but my postman is French (he smiles a lot but doesn't seem to speak much English!) and only seems to come 2 or 3 times a week - and I thought the Post Office was one of the last truly British institutions?
I shall, of course, spend the rest of the weekend, reading my new Blue Book!

Getting back to those bendy buses didn't some of them have a massive flywheel that is activated when they put the brakes on and then the stored energy is used to pull away ?
I think I saw these in Holland years ago, obviously a forerunner of KERS
Maybe it's my brain getting old !

We'll test you on it at the Ace.

Gordon, think you are right about the bendies KERS. After my first across Europe trip stuck at 90kph in October the thought occurred that trucks should have a 'KERS' button so that they could actually overtake the Lithuanian (other nationalities are availabe) 38 tonner that refuses to lift rather than sit alongside for eternity....

On a similar subject, I've heard that anything over 3.5 tons isn't allowed to overtake on any two lane autoroute in France, Belgium or Holland, I thought it was just where signs dictate. Has anyone got a definitive answer to this?

About 10 years ago I did some work for a company who were developing a system to do the same with the Underground trains. I'm not sure if it ever happened but it was pretty amazing technology at the time.

As a schoolboy I used to travel on some of the Malta buses when they were new in the '60s - lived out there for 3-years when my father was stationed there. They were a great way to travel - celebrated my 50th birthday out there a few years ago and it was great to see some of the old buses still going strong.

Our transport to school out there was on the back of Army wagons of the era - loads of kids crammed into the back of them - don't think it would go down well with health & safety these days. But good times.

I was told that to do your driving test in Malta, you drove around various cones in a car park. and if you hit the cones, the examiner moved them farther apart!

My old man bought a wee place in Stella Maris St, St Pauls Bay in 1971 when I was about 14. I learnt to windsurf there, out to St Pauls Island and back, great stuff.

We can't renew our clerks/stewards licences 'on line' ....... probably because its beyond our capabilities?

As an Instructors license is issued as an Officials license, that it a bit odd.Surely they all come from the same source?

On a totally separate note, there are quite a number photos representing 'our' racing in the site's photo comp this year, so worth a look to those who don't normally bother!

It may be odd but we're talking about the MSA here. Our renewal is purely a paper based system which has to be completed by the end of August each year --- or you're 'struck off'. Don't know why it's like that and never bothered to ask!!!

I was leading the finnal two laps to go and some young upstart with all the karting gear on and fancy painted crash hat put me in the barriers.Still came third and fastest lap, then the cheeky wot not took my "fastest lap "trophie. Whats the world coming too.

Recently taken delivery of a new HTC Radar Windows7 phone, one word, awesome. What a piece of kit dont believe anything you may have read about the Mango operating system, its simple to use and has never crashed once in a week of ownership.
