GMG just posted a pic of their 4 R8s lined up, so sounds like the hardware is certainly in place. Pappas in an SLS? Wow! Did not expect that.

Ecurie Ecosse is of course a brand run by Barwell, who ran Paul Drayson's Aston in the ALMS, so they have North American experience in recent years and are happy to run teams for customers under the latter's banner. Wouldn't shock me if they were willing to run a Z4 for someone in SCCA.

I'll definitely be watching next year, but hopefully the coverage improves a bit.

Will be interesting to see how the current WC cars like the Caddy and Volvo compare to the GT3 cars.

I can hear their turbos spooling up from here. They are cool cars.

Looks like the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 has indeed been approved for WC GT. The release says 'customer supported' so my guess is we're talking typical TRG style pay drives?

Blackdog is leaving GT class (Chevrolet Corvette) for GTS class (Chevrolet Camaro) in 2013, taking both drivers Lawson Aschenbach (4th in 2012) and Tony Gaples (8th in 2012).

How many GT3 models will start in 2013 WC? Audi, Mercedes, BMW for sure, Ferrari and Aston Martin are in progress - and the others?

GMG now have 4 (!) Audis R8 LMS in their workshop, curious to see how many of them will be raced this season.

Such a power move by the SCCA to get GT3 in the door as the landscape of North American sports car racing continues to shift. What a great bone to throw to some of the enthusiasts who will be a bit hungrier after this year.

GT3 racing is just so exciting, and you add in the Volvo S60 and Cadillac CTS-V, and you have a really nice class shaping up. I'm so excited for World Challenge this year.

Any rumors of additional GT3 cars joining the grid? All I've seen so far are the Black Swan SLS and as many as 4 GMG R8's.

Green Hornet's listed in an SLS as well.

Genoa Racing is listed with a Ford GT- I'd be curious to know the lineage of that car.

Does anyone know if the GT3 cars are actually running in full-fat GT3 spec or just gimped to hell and back so they don't completely destroy the Volvo and Caddy?

Asking this because GMG are running old LMS spec car with a modified wing.

They are not full GT3 spec, but closer than the Rolex GT cars.

WC gt cars are quicker than what most people think. In past attempts to run GT3 cars in WC, the cars were uncompetitive compared to the purpose built WC cars.

The Genoa Ford looks to possibly be a Doran built chassis. Maybe the chassis Kenetic had. Different power plant than the Robertson fords.

It's definitely not a Doran MKVIII.

As for the Volvo and Caddy...the Volvo was on pace with the Lotus Evora GTE running in ALMS the same weekend at Mid-Ohio. So, it's like a low-end GTE. Not bad.

Kenetic never had Ford GT (at least the kenetic motorsports that ran the Kia program last year). That car was more production based and ran the supercharge production motor. He was on the Ford GT boards a couple of years ago. This is similar the Robertson track day or show car.

Doran built 4 chassis. The original Black Swan/Falken tire car. Written off at Petit in '10(?) The Robertson's have two and Doran has a roller.

Thought ACS has written off the GT at the '10 PLM? Did they buy it from Black Swan or Falken or was it a different build?

It was the old Black Swan car. Originally Doran/Kuttner planned to build 6 chassis but between cost overrun, late delivery, and the economy it never happened. ACS was entertaining the idea of 2 cars for 2011 but when Brandon crashed at PLM his Dad pulled the plug I was told
