New Designs for Old Tracks [Roval Challenge]

This challenge is to take an active asphalt oval (think 34 of NASCAR's races) and design a new and not rubbish road course using at least part of the oval. The course may use public roads near the oval, may cross over/under the oval, and may use both the outfield and infield.

(SSRS) Roval Challenge

Part of the SSEC Design Challenge, I thought it would be easier to part this as separate thread so its easier to keep up with.

  • The circuit is recommended to have a minimum of 72 pitboxes/garages to ensure the circuit can host an SSEC event.
  • The circuit is recommended to be long enough that the average gap between 72 cars is .1 sec. (long circuits are expected)
  • The circuit must have adequate safety measures in place to allow a prototype to safely dissipate energy in the event of a wreck.
  • Areas where stability may become lowered or where high g-loads are present should have run-off or gravel traps, depending on the speed and nature of the section.

Street circuits are permissible, but two prototypes must be able to run parallel for at least 90% of the track's length and no section longer than 1/2 mile may be narrower than such. We eagerly await your designers.

OK a "Roval an Oval" challenge, there hasn't been one of those for a while.

I saw that earlier. Just a note, I wouldn't touch the north road course section, it predates even the triangle-oval itself.

Once again less is more. There is too much too close together in the infield

not when you're trying to be convoluted.

Jacksonville Challenge

Think 2 challenges on one thread was crazy, try three. This one being to form a road course for the attached track map. 2.5 miles, banking in the realm of 30 degrees.

and yes, I stole Wikipedia's map of Daytona. I didn't like Jacksonville's track map. It's an eyesore.
