bore size
Hello
I've opend my engine today and found that only the fourth cilinder is a litle bit dammaged after the engine oilfilter gasket was pused out and spilled the oil. I'm not even sure that the dammage is from this incident. It seem that this engine already had a hard life and clearly sufferd from a broken cambelt. The fourth piston showes markes of the valves hitting it. beside the cilinder the four piston journals on the crank are dammaged. I'll need to bring both engine block and crankshaft to the workshop and see what can be saved. The engine block I'm sure it is possible to rebore it for an oversize piston. And here comes the question, what brand to choose for pistons? When I do some searching on the web I find , omega, acralite, wossner and wiseco. I second question I have is when the engine gets a rebore what are the rules about clearence between piston and cilinder. I've heared somewhere to give the piston some more room so it can expand when getting hot. Any ideas on the subject? Ivan |

Personally I would use the measurement supplied by the piston manufacturers.

I found out that the engine is already drilled to oversize and therefor the pistons a have drop straight thru, so the spare engine will be used intead.
I'll buy some pistons 86.5 later to make this my spare engine. Ivan |

desided to get some wossner pistons and do the job good the first time.
So that means going over 200 BHP in the F3 chassis. Lets hope I'm brave enough. |
