It's clear that something will be announced by Williams sooner or later. Whether it is Kubica or whether it's this weekend that is a speculation point depending on which media outlet you read.

Lets just accept that something is going to happen. Speculate on that.

But lets not go to war on each other just because you happen to read something different from another member.

Now a final warning across the forums to all members, when something is announced if I or any of the Mods see an "I told you so" post there will be action taken.

I hope that's clear.

I'm not sure - but given the fact that he was backed by Russian investors for F1 a few years ago, and has still not progressed beyond Reserve Driver status (even behind Plamer), then it all points to Kubica being the focus for Williams.

sad to say, but wouldnt surprise me at all if Williams are just trying to get money from every potential candidate via some sort of ride share arrangement for this seat.

also i am secretly harboring a suspicion that it will once again be Massa on the grid come OZ. consecutive three time retiree has got to a record worth striving for!

Massa would be much better than any of the proposed candidates.

I suspect that airing his frustration about Williams' complete lack of development during the season lead to his current "retirement".

Was the lack of development as a result of the car being so far off what Paddy Lowe believed was necessary, that it just wasn't worth the bother?

Well paddy is now part of the Williams malaise but yes you are correct sir...this team we used to love is not the same team we used to love.

Probs I have been drinking but for real Williams is wrong now. Cross threads but I think this owner picked a business successor over a dreamer.

Andrew Benson thinks it is almost a done deal, as long as he performs ok in the test.

'Kubica impressed Williams in two tests alongside reserve driver Paul Di Resta at Silverstone and the Hungaroring last month. If he proves in Abu Dhabi on 28 November that he can handle the more physically demanding 2017 cars, he will be signed as a race driver for 2018.'

But, they are giving Sirotkin and Kubica equal oppotunities.

Where did you get this information that Williams are not??


edit: Seems as though that is the case. My bad. I understood it to be Sirotkin and Stroll day one, followed by Kubica and Stroll day two.

I don't doubt that he can drive a current F1 car and do so impressively. The point I was making was, that was a test season.

Would he de able to deal with a situation where perhaps the power steering is failing in the last 10 laps. Would he be able to muscle the car home to stay in a points position?

Does he have the hand/arm/shoulder strength to hold onto the steering wheel and keep it straight or prevent a spin when in for example tyre to tyre contact in a T1 situation?

And a final point, how would his body cope with a hard impact following contact or a car failure? I don't mean getting out the car, he's proven he can do the time. I'm meaning the next session, the next day, the next race.

We saw with Wehrlein if what I read was correct, the final race that he missed after the RoC accident, wasn't that he couldn't drive but to give more recovery time so that if he had an impact it wouldn't undo the recovery to that point.

'Fake Charlie Whiting' tweeted a while back about plans to change the logo. It seems to be something Liberty are planning to do as another means to distance themselves from the BE era.

Those logos are hideous. They should hire me to do their logo, it would an easy million keep the dogs fed for the rest of their lives, and I'd come up with something a damn site better than those.

The first one would be the only one with potential. But really I think they should stick with the current but just modernise it. A better font, less italicised, do something different to the spikes, but keep the same negative space idea with the 1. Maybe I should whip something up in 15 mins and send it to Jean.
