CSCC CROFT

CSCC grids visit Yorkshire, some competitors already dreaming of a curry in Darlington, no doubt.

I'll PM you a copy....

Shame that as usual many southerners can't make the effort to drag themselves up the A1

Well done you guys......only 18 entries in our Future Classics, though...

Even Tintops only has 23...in fact only Swinging 60s is full, with a few reserves.

I travelled up the A1. OMG! mile after mile at 50mph. With no work going on? But I have to say I love Croft. Yesterday I was only spectating (well, I spelled Suggy in the Safety Car a few times) but this was my first time back on the circuit since 1968! Had a great day, met some lovely people, and it was great to be back. Thanks to all involved. Gerry Taylor Ex-special saloon driver.

Had a great time at Croft yesterday. Excellent range of cars, met Richard and many other friendly drivers, happy to chat about their cars. Even stayed dry until 5pm! Some photos attached.

Nice shots Malcolm. It's my local circuit but I couldn't go as it conflicted with the VSCC meeting at Cadwell.

New circuit for me, Croft in the North of England. Horrendous journey both ways (thought motorways were introduced to help with traffic, not make huge parking lots for hours at a time) Anyway, weatherman said heavy rain all weekend so on with the full 'wets' and after a small shower Saturday morning the sun came and I did a great impression of a 'boil in a bag', Sunday I thought 'not going to fall for that again' so just a jacket and rain cover for the camera in my pocket - dry most of the day until the last couple of races then the atlantic dropped in which made for an interesting end to the day - had to drive back to the hotel in just a shirt and my boxers, reception girl thought it was amusing lol. A few that I like from the weekend, all with the 1DXmkII and the 70-200 2.8 mkII / 1.4 mkIII extender

#1 - on reflection

#2 - light shower on Saturday

#3 - Special Saloon track drying Escort

#4 - just checking the recycled gravel

#5 - did I mention it started to rain on Sunday

#6 - in fact it got a little moist to say the least lol

Such a range of cars / series it really is hard picking just a few to show, if you fancy a look the full galleries are:

SATURDAY

SUNDAY

Thanks for looking and sorry for the photo overload

.DAVID.

Ah, Croft lake!

The locals seem to know to the minute how many hours it takes for that to dry up when if becomes big enough to stop track action.

If signed on Croft has some great photo locations but can look extremely "industrial" in the more accessible and paddock action accessible locations.

In other places one can make the backgrounds look remarkably rural - but it's a bit of a trek to get to them.

Still, over a weekend of typical local weather it seems that all sort of opportunities are likely to be available and the really wet stuff can look spectacular while at the same time masking out the less attractive of the backgrounds!

The journey there sounds less attractive though. That said where on the main road network these days is a journey unlikely to be a ordeal?

Did find a few more 'rural' locations especially on the Sunday after a good track walk due to not starting any racing until midday - midday. . . . seriously!!!

Very reminiscent of castle combe with it's wheatfield background - although I hear CC has sold out and put a solar farm in the middle now?

Yep, they're the places. In fact even further around the outside at the fast kink has potential. Can be a pain to get to though.

Wheatfield to be avoided - the drivers can't see you once they have buried themselves!

I think CC may have played a "blinder" if the solar farm has a long contract. It should provide some protection from property developers for a few years if nothing else.

I assume the flooding problems of early last year at CC are now resolved.

I'll look forward to wading through the pics this evening, David.....

Good to meet you Malcolm - sorry if I was a little distracted......like the photo May I share it?

As we are only about 2 - 2.5 hours from Croft, mainly cross country our travel wasn't bad but of course it was the first weekend after most schools broke up, and was flagged as the busiest weekend for traffic, so I wasn't surprised that the A1 roadworks caused issues around Scotch Corner - and having been up and down the A1 and M1 recently I'm only too familiar with the frustration of "Lane closed for Technology installation" or "here's an ideal opportunity to garner some speeding fines whilst unnecessarily slowing everyone when no work is being done"......... Frustrating isn't it!

Our Future Classics race started with rain spotting and became decidedly wet by the time I took over, but I was awfully glad not to be in a Caterham in the last race - the Clervaux lakes were horrible!

Overall, enjoyed the weekend for my first on-track visit to Croft
