Well currently Ganassi only run one car in the TUSC but in an event like Le Mans I suppose they could run a second.

So are you insinuating that 3 cars will run in the WEC and only 1 in TUSC? Or are you postulating that FORD would run 2 separate teams in TUSC with a single car each?

In the Autosport article it says: "It is believed that a team put together by Multimatic and running out of the UK will mastermind the WEC campaign and Chip Ganassi Racing will run the USC programme, joining the sister squad for a four-car assault on Le Mans in June."

At this stage I would have thought Multimatic would run a 2 car team, in the WEC and Ganassi continues with his 1 car team in TUSC, as there's nothing to suggest he is considering a 2 car team.

When it comes to Le Mans no one knows at this stage, if the 4th car will be entered by Ganassi or Multimatic. We'll have a better idea with Friday's announcement.

I highly doubt that FORD/CGR run a single car Werks effort in TUSC.

Yet they ran 2 at Daytona, it has been the engine program mule for the GT, this year.

Throw all logic out the window when trying to pin down how many of these cars Ford will run. Ford is going to sell every one of the 250 road cars built per year whether it races or not. Does it make any sense racing it? No. It is a very expensive pedigree exercise to build pedigree for Fiestas, Focuses, and Mustangs too. Return on investment is a grey area here.

Against the new V8 turbos, and the veteran N/A V8s. The Ford V6 should do well, it did win Daytona and Sebring. Could be some teething problems early on obviously, so they should test them at this years Petit Lemans and next years Daytona and Sebring races.

Question is, what else should they be doing? Sure, Ford has a good presence in American motorsports with NASCAR and the USC, they're doing hardly anything over here though.
Focusing on Europe and Asia here, this seems like the best option for them. WRC is being dominated by VW, F1 by Merc, WTCC by Citroen and national touring car series all have their own rules these days. GT3 maybe? Well they could actually earn money doing that, but there's no series offering the kind of publicity that Le Mans does.
So, Le Mans it is. Plus, the chance of sharing development costs between Ford US and Ford of Europe isn't too bad either.
