Just as revival number #1 would have had perfect timing for the 40th anniversary in 2006 GT1.

In fact back then you actually had Corvette, Saleen and even some dusty Vipers competing still somewhere, so more American opposition than now to brag home about!

AND, AND, with mid-decade GT1 performance levels and horrible LMP(2) reliability there were actually opportunities for overall podiums, not just class wins in place 17 or 24 or whatever.

There was a question floated on one of our US message boards that asked, "What iconic American sportscar would you like to see race again?" I was jumping up and down and yelling, 'Ford GT-40!' When sitting in class in the late 1960's, I used to doodle a lot and draw cars. There was one car that I really liked and it was my favorite to doodle. It was a few years later that I realized that it was the Ford GT40 that was my model while doodling.

We go a long ways back!

Stopped by NAIAS last night during industry days and took a few photos of the GT and anything else cool. The GT looks downright incredible in person! Sorry to go a bit off topic, but here are photos of all of the stuff I figure you guys would be interested to see:

Thanks! Quite a lineup of cars. I think it impressive that the new GT is the best looking of them all. What dramatic shapes to make it look so different while it retains its bloodline.

Local rumour here in Oz was that the clay was done at Broadmeadows.

Im thinking if it was only for forza 6, why would it be in a video about the car itself? Maybe Im reading too much into it. Someone will see in the game since I dont play xbox anymore anyway. 4 360's is enough of my money for micro$oft.

One thing I wonder,and don't know if anyone has asked but is this a production ready model or is this just a concept car?because if it's just concept,it can suffer from changes necceasry to meet some high way safety standards.

Not sure about that in the video,may have jus been a design study with different styles and designs.probably nothing to do with production,racing,or anything.

It has a fin and a roof air intake. GTE/LM cars dont have those features. It may be just a fictional 'future' dp/lmp2 imo.

Yes the p2 & hy are clearly signs that the artist is uninformed.

But this rendering is largely based on conceptual designs seen on a drafting board in one frame of the forz6 ford gt video posted by TF110.

Not sure if it is real or not due to it being a rendering, but I like 95% of it. I'd buy a ticket if I was a fan to see this car on the track. And, if it was truly hybrid and could compete in the WEC, then it would be extra special.

Can Ford design, build and compete on the world's stage? I think with the design that they are off onto a good start. Under the skin, the technology gets mega very quickly. I'm hoping the modern Ford group has the courage.

I cant photoshop, but chopping off the roof intake, fin and fender attached wing mount would make for a great GTE.
