Lotterer to Rahal?
sorry if this has been posted somewhere before, but german media links lotti to team rahal...
here´s the link: http://de.sports.yahoo.com/030211/8/3afdh.html well, i bet not many of you speak german so i´ll translate it for you:. Andre Lotterer (Duisburg) could be the first german racing driver to compete a full season in the US -CART series. That was reported by motorsport magazine "motorsport aktuell". Wire puller of the surprising deal is business man Jakub Andreas Grajewski from Hannover, who got the attention when he talked about a cart race on the former expo-territory in hannover a few weeks ago. Grajewski flew to final negotiations to the USA: "i made everything perfect to 95 % " i don´t know whether he means that he had a perfect conversation to the bloke on the other end or whether he wants to express that the deal is 95% sure... The 22 years old former junior-kart-worldchampion could drive a lola ford in the team of 3 times cart champion bobby rahal. His teammate would be michel jourdain jr....[...] rest is irrelavant and i don´t want to translate it Last edited by *formula3*; 16 Feb 2003 at 13:06. |

Will he race for Team Rahal proper, or will "JAG Racing" operate out of the Rahal shop?

Rahal knows Lotterer from the Jaguar days.. I hope that helps in securing a seat for the guy, he looks good.

Finally! It's been absolutely mind boggeling why Lotterer wasn't at the top of everyone's list for a driver. He was with a team that was there for one race (2 in the year), no experience with the car, team, environment, track, series, etc. Had the practice sessions and qualifying to learn it all. In the first half of the race he was posting fastest laps! I don't know where his laps stood at the end of the race, but that's bloody amazing. I would go so far to say that even if you started without a sponsor, after a couple races people would be dying to sponsor this guy.
Rahal needs another car anyway. Last edited by Snrub; 16 Feb 2003 at 16:43. |

I've heard the rumour BSchneiderFan alludes to... That Lotterer will run with JAG Racing out of Rahal's shop. Similar to how Fittipaldi/Dingman is running out of the Conquest shop.

Great news if Lotterer can find a seat with Rahal/JAG. He proved his worthiness with a fine driver last year.

Andre was impressive during his year in British F3, I actually thought he showed more promise than James Courtney, especially as it was his first year on British tracks, compared to Courtneys 3rd season in the uk.

Damn, that's a shame, he would be a great addition to CART...so quick at Mexico City last year.

He would have gone well in oval racing judging by the way he used to go thru Copse corner FLAT in British F3! At least he has a drive now. Must be weird for Courtney with all these faces from the past following him to Japan, first Robbie Kerr and now Andre Lotterer...

Europe and Brazil have been producing a surplus of good drivers for years now. Kind of a shame.

bad for the eurospeedway here in germany, i suppose that it will have an effect on the ticket bookings, i expect that many would come if there was a german driver...but without a driver the media will not cover it that closely -> less people interested -> less at the track

That's the stupidist thing I've ever heard. CART as a series really droped the ball. This is why we need some freaking sponsors, so fast drivers get rides.

Does the German CART race clash with a Nippon event? Maybe he could do it as a one-off. Its a shame not to see him in CART for this year, as he's a good driver and it owuld've been a 20th entry. However, he could be onto something in future, maybe F1 will beckon if he does a good job?

Lotterer should be given Roberto Gonzalez or R. Lavin's seat.

Sadly, Lavin and Gonzales are bringing the sponsorship for those drives. Without them, no one would have the drive. Lotterer needs to bring money to get a seat at any existing team. Its a sad situation, but not a new one.
