new steering wheel

silly question i am doing this myself...
so how do i put on my sparco wheel to the steeringshaft?
do i weld the splined adapter on to it? it seems the only way. shoudl i use the stock shaft or get a new one? (old vintage car was not a collapsing shaft.)

i really have no clue as to the best thing to do-
i would likely just weld it on i suppose, and get a new coupler and shaft if it goes wonky

I've got a solid upper shaft secton on mine so I just cut off the old spline and welded the Sparco adaptor straight to it. Works fine.

You've probably done this, but while you've got the upper section off have a look at exactly where it will go if the other end of the steering column is hit by something very solid... like the armco/front crossmember/upright etc. If it slides straight to where you're sitting then it might be worth considering fitting a colapsible column, or even just putting an extra UJ in so that it folds.
