I might confuse this car with the GTD one.

This press release makes a bit more sense. Basically, it's the equivalent of a corporate IOU. |

Add this to the wild rumor mill--Volkswagen Group is rumored to be at least thinking of buying some stake in Fiat/Chrysler:

That does look good. I didn't realize how much the old livery was hiding until they put the red on and now this.

Didn't realize that the restrictor table was straightout shown on the GTE "regs"
So as we knew, the pre-bopped base restrictor value of the 8 liter Viper is 28,1mm (= 5 liter class) while 5,5 liter Corvette's pre-bopped base restrictor is 27,9mm (= 5,5 liter class). Which makes no sense apart from the obvious politics shenanigans but whatever... I'm bad at maths, what should the restrictor value for 8 liter really be? 27.X something. The mm differences in the table are not directly comparable, for example the difference between 4000-4500 is 0,3mm, but difference of 4500-5000 is 0,2mm? |

I have not ranted about BoP or now AoP in a long time…
They set up rules for manufacturers to level the field for a large variety of cars, OK that makes sense. Then they allow manufacturers to run outside the rules if they are not competitive, this does not make sense. On the math problem, there is a point where the restricted air goes supersonic and creates a vacuum and cuts power to the engine essentially creating a rev limiter. My best guess is you would have to know displacement and max revs of every engine to calculate restrictor size. They probably get their baseline data from the homologated cars in that class. The problem I have with the endless adjustments is the injustice of taking a slower car and making it faster than another car that is following their rules? But we all know the reason, you ever hear that song “Every 1's a Winner"? I also see that they have done away with the break for two valve per cylinder engines. Anybody know when that happened, was it the same time they went to the 5.5 liter max displacement rule that also doesn't seem to be a real rule? |

I understand what you are saying, so without becoming too pedantic…
I don’t distinguish between waivers and BoP, waivers are just another end run around rules clearly (maybe not, but should be) defined in the regulations. IMHO if the regulations were clear and properly written there would be no reason for waivers. Again, it’s been a while since I complained about BoP and for good reason, it’s a pointless exercise. It is what it is, I enjoy the GT circus or watch something else when it gets tedious and predictable. |

Well, there goes GTLM. Such a shame, having only taken the car to Le Mans once, but not unexpected unfortunately.
Many talented people in there, I hope they have success finding work elsewhere. |
