2011 Indy Lights season

North American rounds of the 2011 IndyCar Series season are:

March 27 - St. Pete
April 10 - Barber
April 17 - Long Beach
May 29 - Indianapolis
June 11 - Texas
June 19 - Milwaukee
June 25 - Iowa
July 10 - Toronto
July 24 - Edmonton
August 7 - Mid-Ohio
August 14 - New Hampshire
August 28 - Sears Point
September 4 - Baltimore
October 2 - Kentucky
October 16 - Las Vegas, Fontana or none

Indy Lights last visited Texas and Fontana in 2005. They shouldn't be reacing there or Las Vegas in 2011. That leaves 13 tracks, the middle of the 12-14 track range of the last seasons. Could any other race be dropped?

Conor Daly, Tristan Vautier and Nick Andries (1st, 5th and 15th in 2010 Star Mazda) will be testing an Indy Lights car for Andresen Racing at Sebring on October 28.

Jorge Goncalvez (4th in 2010 Star Mazda) has driven an Indy Lights car for 220 miles at Putnam Park for Moore Racing.

I was very happy to see the $300K IndyLights prize for the USAC winner. Of course it's an ovals only thing but hey...I wonder will they definitely do it? Is the ladder so NASCAR-ized that the young kids don't even want it?

IMHO, we need more of this kind of thing, glad to see it.

The three IndyCar short ovals is cool! As I worte originally, no Texas is no surprise. Mid-Ohio and Sears Point dropped isn't that insane. But Edmonton replaced by Trois-Rivières is shocking! That will be interesting.

That is a little strange, isn't it. Cutting Edmonton saves a lot of travel money, presuming the event is revived for ICS.

Fontana for Lights? That sounds a bit iffy, hopefully Vegas will be secured.

Trois Rivieres? That is running with another series on the schedule for the weekend, yes?

It's Three Rivers big weekend, Nascar CT series, Star Mazda, Castrol Canadian Touring Car and now Lights. Could make for a nice long weekend trip up to La Belle Province

That would be awesome, but not as much as landing an F1 seat. Most Argentines would prefer him racing for Hispania rather than on ovals.

Sam Schmidt Motorsports is one of the best team (maybe the best) of the series, with a lot of title in its history...J.K. Vernay won the title last year in his rookie season...maybe Guerrieri could make the same...

Guerrieri and Sam Schmidt are early title favorites, for sure. Great team and a top-notch driver.

But remember many F1 drivers/hopefuls have been teenagers; and I'd say F1 is much more demanding than Indy Lights
