V8 Supercars Future International Rounds (Merged)

Speedcafe reports that the United States and five other countries are being discussed to host races V8 Supercar

What circuits do you think that have better chances?

Austin and Detroit sound great. I wouldn't choose Argentina (too complicated right now) or Brazil (motorsport is getting weak). Now there are some new tracks close to Santiago de Chile that could be interesting.

I wonder if South Africa is a good choice. Then there's Macau, Japan and Singapore.

peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
you get the impression there will be another USA based race.

I reckon another NZ round would be ideal, not sure where though

UK please. I'd dearly love to see 25 V8 Supercars thundering down the Craner Curves at Donington.

I would like that they would go to the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, there was a rumor in 2012, which also commented on the Mexican drivers.

I remember that there was also a rumor that they might be able to go to China, Bali, Singapore, Hong Kong, Qatar or India.

They really need to forget about this 'international' event rubbish, and focus on the fanbase.

We are a national series, not a world championship.

The middle east ones where all quite financially rewarding for the teams and the series, probably not so much for the track/government.

And thats the sustainability problem. Why would another track or government hold a race for V8SA with no returns.

Throw them on Watkins Glen or Lime Rock Park for a hell of a show.

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, aka Mosport. The track has six million people within 90 minutes drive, millions of dollars invested in the circuit in the last three years, and very fast. If they go to Watkins Glen or Lime Rock, then move up to Mosport.

LRP is more of the style of track they run though.

Oh, and NYC and Boston are within two hours. That's like ten million people just there alone, haha.

The Glen, yes, Lime Rock, no - too twisty for a V8 to put on a show in my mind. Mosport would go well also.

Road America full circuit, VIR, Barber, Montreal, Sebring, Laguna Seca, Indy Road course, Mid Ohio, Road Atlanta or Sonoma would all be viable I would think (although I have no idea of any goings on at the circuits themselves if anything would preclude a visit)

Too twisty and you have Darwin and Winton on the schedule, along with Symmons, and All the street circuits?

i would say all 3 you mention have quite a few straight bits or a single curve (eg back stretch Symmons) as opposed to Lime Rock which doesn't (as much - front straight plus 2 short straight bits). Just my opinion obviously... I'm thinking realistic opportunities where a car can get alongside without the car in front following the racing line which becomes blocking by default

That's not the point.

Isn't the series winner awarded the "Australian Touring Car Championship" ?

dont the fans gets subsidised travel costs by having the event closer to them.

ie the 70,000 fans who went to texas dont have to pay to travel overseas

Sorry Pecky, should have been more specific. I meant Aussie fans. They're the reason V8's successfully exist in the first place. It's great to have international spectators in their own country ie: Americans at Texas last year.
One of my mates went to Circuit of the Americas last year and said it cost him an arm and a leg. Think it would be in the best interests of V8SCA to attract Aussies overseas if it comes to that again. Best way to do this would obviously be to make prices realistic etc., to make it more attractive.
