Your second reference is either the start or finish of Mailscote, depend which way they are running it. Its the track that goes to the camp sites in Christchurch. Cracking stage goes right down to the river, never had anybody in though. Have a good day,I would be out on it as well but its a work Saturday. |

Multimaps can be helpful. See http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.c...&keepicon=true for the Parkend map (and to see yellows and whites). Note that the Grid ref. for the circle is given below the map so you can extrapolate from that. If you do many rallies, you will find yourself buying the relevant OS maps and finding out how work a grid ref. Regards Jim Last edited by JimW; 1 Feb 2006 at 21:09. Reason: To add note. |

to all going to this event
"Within the Forest of Dean over the past twelve months there have been a large number of fatal road accidents. In many of these incidents excessive speed has been a major contributory factor. There is a local campaign, which the ‘Wyedean’ is supporting, to educate young drivers and potential young drivers about the dangers of excessive speed, car control and general road manners. Gloucestershire Constabulary are operating a zero tolerance to speeding in the area, which will still be in place during the Get Connected! Wyedean Forest Rally. We ask you all; competitors, service/management, spectators, marshals, safety crews etc. to drive carefully, considerately and within the speed limits on the event. PLEASE PASS THIS MESSAGE ON TO FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS…….You have been warned. " Taken from the event website. |

Think I got it!!!
162 is the map, 6512 is the Square 65 across 12 up, I take it the 0896 is the square broken down again, 08 across 96 up? If I don't make it you'll know why!!!! Lee |

CombeMarshal, that sounds about right!
The official OS website is quite useful, (after you have found out that the Forest of Dean is in the "SO" region - don`t ask!)... To check your co-ords, try here.... http://www.getamap.co.uk/getamap/ ....then click proceed at the bottom. In the new window that pops up type your co-ords preceeded by "SO", ie your first position becomes SO65120896. Your point will be in the dead centre of the little map which comes up. I will hopefully be spectating for the first time next Saturday. Looking at Serridge as it`s run twice, and by looking at the size of the entry I should get a handy one hour lunchbreak between the runs! All I really want now is a map of the stage. I`ve plotted the 3 car parks on an OS map so can see the area where the stage must run, but without a proper route map it`s impossible to work out where I want to go within the stage! If anyone has a clearer idea of where the Serridge stage actually goes I`d be ever so grateful for the info - I`m hoping that the programme may have a proper map or alternatively I can sniff out some info at Rally HQ Chepstow on the Friday night..... |
