Comtec World Series Renault

Noticed a story in Autosort this week about Comtec hoping to step up to "World Series by Renault" next year. They are testing a hybrid WSR car. What makes it a hybrid, anyone know?

Sure looked like a full 2005 car with sidepod chimneys, the birdy front nose, etc. Maybe its a hybrid because its a cracking car and a pants driver?

I am afraid that I don't want to use this thread as an excuse to knock Susie Stoddart, that's been done enough - its a genuine question about Comtec & a so called hybrid car.

Taken at Oulton Broad, Lowestoft Suffolk.
Jonathan Lewis and brother Chris race powerboats now. It was a summer fete too on the shore so Comtec put on a display of cars including Susie's 2006 car here. Note Westley pushing it!

According to the WSR news site, the team are one of the 15 given entries for next year, with a couple of this years teams on the reserve list. So i guess that explains why they've been testing this old Nissan chassis..

Interestingly the identity of the 15th team is not yet revealed but will be announced in November - Dick Bennetts outfit by any chance?

I went to Comtec yesterday and they seem very excited about the new challenge ahead of them.
I looked at the World Series car they had there and it look’s real to me it may be originally a Nissan but now it’s a fully fledged Renault car!
Jonathan is recruiting all the best people in the business to make sure that they are competitive from the off, in fact they have bought my entire stock of stainless steel tube for the structures they are making at the moment for the pit stop’s.
The car is certainly a very impressive thing when you get close to it.
Jonathan’s boat is also very impressive

Slightly off topic but... In fairness to Jenson Button he has responded to the article published by FHM and has said that the comments were taken out of context, and that what he said was in pure jest during a moment of male banter. That being the case I see no real problem with what Jenson has said, what I do have a problem with however is FHM magazine taking what he said and making him seem sexist just so they can boost their sales.

BTW; the other girl,Pippa Mann,is staying in the EurocupFR2000 according to article in this weeks Motorsport News. She has proved rather dissapointing so far.

They needed more than one car, so they were supplied by Carlin Motorsport. The tests were this week.
