T-star should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
2012 Bathurst 12 Hour

A quick look at the 12 hour website and you can see a banner lonking to

www.24hseries.com

Not suggesting that we will get a 24 hour race again, but does this signal that we will be joining some sort of 'World Cup' for Endurance GT cars?

Maybe a tie in to see the 12hr joining that race series, would be a good fit and bring a heap of foreign teams downunder, only thing being with the production car classes running to different rules then our prod car regs so might dissuade local proddy racers from joining.

But then again its just a banner so maybe advertising of similar interest?

They had guys wandering around the pits at the 12 hour handing out promo stuff to anyone that looked like a competitor.

I really hope they're not looking at dumping either the 12hr weekend or the Easter weekend in favour of a combined single event. That would be completely ****ed for ground roots motorsport. One less opportunity the rest of us have to get to race at the mountain.

A lot will miss out

Apparently the Formula Ford's racing at Bathurst at Easter were told they could race at Bathurst in 2012-but in February. If the decision has been made to can Easter it is a bit surprising seeing the organisers economics with no spectator entry fee and no TV must have been entirely based on competitors entry fees.Given that they had 270 entries I wonder what number would have made the event viable into the future.

Not even remotely in the ballpark. Easter is there to stay. Don't know where the combining two Events into one comes from but it's a long way from reality.

News surrounding the '12 12 Hour will be released soon but it's nothing like this!

Jungle drums say - 12hr to stay much the same with less support categories due to 12hr cars wanting more track time.
Easter meeting to be a mainly historic (maybe sedan) type meeting.

Well it looks like the date is already set for the 12 hour, Feb again.

I can't see them not having an event at Easter. Had me worried for a minute

Hopefully so. Would be nice to see Audi back and hopefully Reiter might not be put off coming next year.

Sounds like the 24hr is on schedule. Great to see.

Hope they have a VLN class and/or a classics class which allows NGT,older GT2/GT3 spec cars up to 12 years old to run. It will allow some fantastic cars to run again like the F360, the Lambo and 5.7ltr Mosler. Forget the Monaro 427 as it was never holomogated for anything in World Sports Car racing.

While everything else on the website is TBA there are the prices for shipping packages up there.
The link with the 24hr series seems obvious as Europe and Dubai are quoted. The shipping time from Dubai following the 24hr there looks reasonably tight.
By the way in A$ the cost is approx $10750 from Dubai, $13400 from Europe but a wacking $11000 from NZ. Even if that price should be $NZ that doesn't seem to compare favourably or relate to my understanding of container costs across the ditch.

They sound like airfreight prices, not seafreight...

The cost from NZ is a 40 ft container. It is one of the most expensive stretches of water to cross in the world!!Likewise Dubai price-- 40' container. Will go to Singapore-- then here.
I am guessing that is what is being quoted with those prices. It is a combination of all the add on costs here that contributes greatly to the cost.
Definately not airfreight!!

I guess the prices include return shipping plus handling & roadhaul to Bathurst etc, but we brought a container across from Auckland to Brisbane a couple of years ago for under A$1200.
Insurance would add a wack I suppose which we didn't need.
