interesting pic of the 458 bella rosso ferrari in the pits. one of the two drivers not wearing a HANS device, i guess it was during practice or quali as there are fire marshalls on the fence. wonder if it was just pit stop practice or forgot and went out the gate without it?
Is it actually regulation to wear a HANS device?

I thought it was optional.

Your entry seemed one of the better prepared local efforts this year. Should the event go ahead, it would be unfortunate to see you guys without a presence.

All the best for the unspecified 12 hour event.

I'd be somewhat surprised if this still goes ahead.

That's some pretty evident desperation.
Mal's running seems positive for the event. It's just unfortunate his being there is dependent on this specific package.

As an aside, the event organisers seem to have paid attention in some capacity:
- Event date - changed (earlier date).
- Tyre regulations - relaxed (options: Michelin, Hankook, Pirelli).

It's just a shame ArmorAll's withdrawing support places a 'one step forward, ten steps backward' vibe on proceedings.
The event's welfare is still pretty much dependent on their securing another event sponsor and, increasing the volume of local (both GT3/4 and touring) participation.

So, how many of the Shannons/Kumho series cars of a similar vintage to Mr Rose's will now ask for dispensation to run in the B12?

Thin end of the wedge & all that...

Dunno why the hand wringing on Armour all withdrawal.

Sponsor dollars wouldn't have been much.

Relaxed regs, tyre options and early bird entry make for a serious consideration of having a go next Feb

Just curious why you think it now wouldn't go ahead - sponsors come and go - including from this event but the loss of a sponsor doesn't mean that everything is over by itself.

Unless of course, you have heard more.....

Lack of Spectators + Reduction in entry lists = less exposure of the sponsoring brand. Not sure what is odd about that?

seems similar to an event many people think should be drawn & quartered in the Harbour City.

That's the ideal scenario. This is just an improvement over what previously existed. Seems there's a vested interest in their not relaxing the tyre regulations entirely.

It's surprising Dunlop isn't (for what ever reason) a featured option.

I'd argue the latter has increased (albeit marginally) since the event's ethos has changed. The crowd figures, and entry list volume decreases are factual.
It seems if anything, the event's exposure has increased. Media coverage is far more comprehensive than in prior years. There's a decent amount of average folk that seem to know about the event - as to whether the follow is another matter.

It's possible ArmorAll's decision was made well in advance. As they've stated, the three year contract period is over. They've elected against renewing that contract.
Anything like this is a long-term investment - it's an iterative development. Evidently, they've decided it's not within their interests.

Raphael VDS is Count Rudi's grandson (Marc VDS being his uncle), runs VDS Racing Adventures and built his own GT car.
There is no link between both teams.

By the way, one of the posts mentioned Warwick Brown who was one of the most successful VDS racing drivers. I'm trying to contact him, since I'm doing some research into Count Rudi VDS's team on Raphael's behalf. Does anyone know where he currently lives?
