Oh ok, what's he like in person? I've been a fan of his ever since I started following sportscar racing and its a good coincidence that he has continually raced one of my favourite GT cars : the Murcielago.

Judging by the news out of the Sunshine Coast Mr Lago could turn up with a new and rather different livery for the 12hr.
Interesting that the news of the purchase of the Big Pineapple makes more of the Porsche driving tallents of the new ownership group than their extensive and successfull efforts in business.

Fujitsu V8 Supercars driver David Russell says he can’t wait for next year’s Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour after testing a 2011 specification Lamborghini Gallardo LP600 GT3 at Hockenheim.

Russell flew to Germany following the Queensland Raceway V8 Supercars meeting, where the Queenslander took his Matthew White Motorsport Falcon to fourth for the round.

Recently purchased by GT3 Cup Challenge racer Roger Lago, the Reiter Engineering built Lamborghini will be imported to Australia for next February’s Bathurst event.

Russell teamed with Lago and Matt Kingsley for this year’s race, finishing fifth outright in a 997 GT3 Cup Car.

“What an incredible experience,” said Russell of his test day in Germany.

“Once the guys from Reiter Engineering knew that I was right on the pace in the car, they were happy to make a number of set up changes that I wanted and that resulted in the fastest lap of the day, on worn tyres.

“I was pretty happy with that, first time out at the challenging Hockenheim circuit and in this impressive GT3 car.

“I can’t wait until next year’s Bathurst 12 Hour to show what Roger and I can do in it.”

Russell will return to Australia to take part in the V8 Supercars Championship endurance events with Jack Daniel’s Racing, beginning with the L&H 500 at Phillip Island.

“After the tests that I have had with Jack Daniel’s Racing I can’t wait to get behind the wheel with Todd (Kelly) at the Island,” said Russell of the enduros.

“Kelly Racing has shown strong pace this year across all four of their cars and after finishing 6th last year in this race, my goal and that of the entire crew at Kelly Racing is to contribute towards a major result this year.”

Audi Sport Team Phoenix expected with two cars at the 2012 Bathurst 12 Hour race.

http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/artic...rst-12h-title/

Quote:
Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour organizers will welcome Audi back to Bathurst to defend their title, after media reports this week confirmed the German brand would return to the race in 2012.

Confirmation of Audi’s return follows event director James O’Brien meeting with senior Audi Motorsport Management at the Spa 24 Hour race in July.

In what is set to be a joint operation between the top German-based Phoenix Racing operation – a successful outfit in both GT and DTM competition – and local team Melbourne Performance Centre, two new-specification Audi R8 LMS models will travel to Australia for the Feb. 24-26 Event next year.

Audi finished 1-2 in the 2011 race, the car driven by Marc Basseng, Darryl O’Young and Christopher Meis edging out the ‘Aussie Audi’ steered to second by Bathurst 1000 champion Craig Lowndes, Warren Luff and Mark Eddy.

“When I met with Audi in July this year they were very keen to confirm their participation and return to Bathurst to defend their Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour title,” O’Brien said.

“It needed to clear the Audi board and the various logistical hurdles that go into planning a major international operation like this, but it is great they have gone ‘on record’ with local media and as an event we are thrilled to have them commit to returning. The team received a warm welcome this year and were embraced by Australian fans and the local community.

“Audi’s return is important in showing other potentially interested brands how much value they can get out of the Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour and we are confident it will lead to increased interest from potential entrants and fans alike.”

Audi’s planned return joins a number of major entrants already committed to the event in a wide variety of machinery, ensuring that the 2012 Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour will likely feature the most diverse field yet.

Queensland driver Roger Lago sent V8 Supercar driver David Russell to Europe this week to take delivery of a brand new Lamborghini Gallardo LP600s from German team Reiter Engineering, whilst New Zealand-based Motorsport Solutions has already confirmed the entry of two Porsche’s and at least one – if not more – BMW production car.

TheeEvent’s international partnership with Creventic has resulted in four potential entrants confirming their intentions to race, including UK-based Birchwood Racing (Aston Martin N24) and VDS Racing Adventures (Ford Mustang GT3). Parkes (NSW)-based GWS Motorsport will enter three production cars, with more entrants across all divisions to be revealed in coming weeks.

The 2012 Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour will be contested on Feb. 24-26, 2012 and will feature an action-packed program including four strong support categories; Sports Sedans, Saloon Cars, Formula Ford and Improved Production.

A trip down here by Phoenix might possibly see Marcel Fassler in one of those cars. Would be nice to see how he would go around the Mountain.

Also good to see the audi boys back and even better to be able to hear 2 lambos up and down the mountain.

And you comment on his comment? Huh?

Scudd is entitled to square up ffs. It is a long story but entails plenty of adversarial banter between two blokes who put their money where their mouths are with this event.

But Scudd hasn't had any 'ifs'...the metal/carbon/rubber is in transit and there's no uber-European superstar 'maybe' driving the car.

You could probably save power by just putting the corn in the ring - the heat should pop it in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Now, towels and a blood bucket, that's a good lad

A serious question, if I may, what would be the difference in costs between running a "serious grunter" in the 12 Hour versus, say, a V8 Supercar as a benchmark comparison?

Some of you on here would be very clued up in each and/or both departments.

Many reckoned the Monaros were Supercars - and they didn't have any problem going 6, 12, 24 . . .

The Monaro didn't run a 5 litre supercar engine and only competed against selected opposition........some legitimate oppositon that could beat it was outlawed.

At the end of 12 hours, a 911 would require a bottle of Kitten carwash to get the bugs off, a 6 litre bottle of whatever oil is cheapest from SuperCheap and she's ready to go again! Or so the urban legend goes...

911's are a bit more precious than that GTR...will need 12 litres of Mobils best synthetic to wash away the aches and pains of a 12 hour. Otherwise a fair summation.
