As much as its a shame for Audi to leave, there is no excuse for Toyota now. They need a bulletproof fast car for next year.

Super excited to see the real battle between Toyota and Porsche. Both teams will be extra focused on next year. CAN NOT WAIT!

Toyota will have to enter three cars and former Audi drivers.

With no Audi to stand in their way, and Porsche having a by then nearly three year old car, and two cars vs probably three for Toyota, there's little excuse for Toyota to not win LM next year. They nearly did it this year with the odds more stacked against them.
I hope that Toyota stick it to Porsche next year, though if they win LM and the WEC again, what'll happen after 2017? |

BTW, if you want another Toyota LM/WEC fan, I'd like to come aboard as of the end of the season

Things can change though, especially if they win Le Mans. I remember in 2009, John Howlett (The TMG president at the time) said of course they would be continuing in F1, they were even trying to sign Raikonnen. The board just simply pulled the plug shortly after.

True, but this time the Toyota board has been making public statements regarding the WEC program and the fact that they explicitly approved it to go on as an R&D effort too.

Toyota Hybrid is a trademark they are willing to push for many years, on many areas.
Maybe if they get caught up in HybridGate and suddenly change their direction into diesel powertrains |

The Toyota WRC effort is nowhere near the WEC programme; it's all a bit Toyota Team Finland at the moment.....quite right that the WEC is taking priority!!

Toyota better have those drivers that wheel for them in other series on speed dial. Especially Andre Lotterer.
I've been wanting to see him behind the wheel of a Toyota LMP1 since 2012. |

If Toyota end up with the latest Audi LM Dream Team, I think that they'll be on loan from Audi, depending on driver contracts. I'd believe that Marcel, and especially Ben and Andre, probably have long term contracts with Audi Sport similar to what McNish and Kristensen have had/still have.
One issue is that if they become Audi/Audi Sport ambassadors, that could present marketing issues with both Audi and Toyota if Audi loan them out for LM. Or Audi might have to temporarily suspend their contracts with Audi Sport as long as they're on loan to Toyota (granted, as of the checkered flag at Bahrain, Audi and TMG won't be direct on track competitors for the foreseeable future). Loaning them to Porsche if they run a third car (which I believe is kinda unlikely) would be easier, since Audi and Porsche cars are owned by Volkswagen Group. |

Lotterer drives Toyota in Super Formula. If he wants in their lmp1, I doubt he will stay with Audi who are only interested in F-E which he criticized. In fact he was with Toyota years before his Audi lmp1 outing doing Super GT.

Also does anyone know of the engine use situation at Toyota? They had already gone though most of their engine allotment as of Nurburgring. If the 6 has to do a 3 minute stop and hold in one of the next two races, that'll probably screw them out of the championship.

They can reuse an older engine. The #5 is the one with more issues.

I wonder how the WRC program may impact the WEC, specially because how the WRC project is being run doesn´t have any sense.

What do you mean? TMG still will have a part in the wrc team. They're doing some if not all of the engine work. But I don't see what would affect the lmp1 program.

When we talk about Toyota's budget, are we talking about the money the guys in Germany receive from Japan or it's the money spent on the whole LMP1 programme, including things made in Japan, like the engine and hybrid system?

Directly use Makinen to make the car instead of TMG, even Makinen tried to build the engine outside TMG.
