A) Money
B) Over confidence
C) Their Mecachrome is still not full up to spec but rather the same "pre-production model" as indicated by Lowdon
D) Fear of some sort of public failure (???)

If it's A (from Manor's and/or sponsor side) then Ginetta themselves - who are loaded enough - should be throwing cash at them if they ever want to field more customers cars for Le Mans. You can't win this by playing poor (the AMR way)

If it's B... well... ... ...

I guess C could be sort of plausible if they know they can't get much (continuous) running out of the thing, but it gets pretty laughable from the campaign if haven't got the proper powerplant in the car by April already after this Ginetta project was announced millenia ago with so and so many targeted customers

Similar story with D, given some of the mechanical gremlins and whatever, which they might rather want to sort in private testing, but you're hardly going to get press coverage out of that meeting anyway, and in any case sooner or later the day will come when you will need to face the world

I don't really see the point of signing up for a test if you know you're just going to grenade an engine with your current spec. That doesn't necessarily make it the "plan" to have a crap engine still in April, but until you're confident it's just throwing money down a hole.

It's not a very positive sign. You learn a hell of a lot you didn't expect to during these tests not to mention the priceless pit stop practice and creation of procedures. It's also very expensive though, these cars would probably cost an easy 30 euro/km to run excluding your fuel, tyres, crew and so on. Hopefully it's not a financial decision as that would be worrying for the future.

What is surprising the most with Manor is their pilot Line Up. We are in March, and only two pilots have been annouced. They had Jean-Eric Vergne as platinum last season and it looks like he will run with G-Drive this year in LMP2.

Maybe, maybe not...

"It has been confirmed to DSC by Rusinov himself though that the final decision was reversed – and that the team is now being reconstituted – Vaxivierre is no longer likely to race in the #26, and it is quite possible that Vergne won’t either. Several other drivers have been considered for the vacant slot(s) and at least three were tested at the recent Dunlop tyre test at Motorland Aragon."

Agree (if that was the reasoning) however it mirrors badly on the whole Ginetta project if they and/or their related partners still haven't figured things out two months prior Le Mans, after all the touting they've had in the last year

They have just completed 3 days testing at Aragon.

The block and heads of the LMP1 engine are shared with their normally aspirated GP3 engine and their turbo F2 engine, both of which have been testing (all 19 GP3 cars at Jerez, all 20 F2 cars at Paul Ricard).

The engine will be fine. Probably.

But then you have reports from Nyck De Vries that there were several teams with engine issues in f2

Well, i wonder what about the drivers and what about the Aragon test itself, not only Manor?

During The first test some time ago with BR1, ByKolles and Ginetta we knew the laptimes, there was some news.
Now, even on Ginetta's twitter there is nothing after three days of testing.

I found only an info that Robert Kubica should take the decision in the next week but I don't know.
He says that he is quite busy with Williams but with WEC it would make him to be only couple of days at home until after Le Mans.
With the reported problems of Ginetta, that could be one question mark to much...

I guess the drivers are taking a while because they are probably working out how much cash they need to raise between the roster.

I really hope the roof doesn't cave in due to the Chinese funding.

Agreed. Reading between the lines, funding for the second entry was always touch and go anyway, and with the recent government intervention and takeover at CEFC, there has to be a degree of uncertainty surrounding the future funding of the programme as a whole. For now, the programme is continuing, but you do wonder for how long. Fingers crossed...

If the cash is running short for the second car, they could get away with running it only at LM and parking it for the rest of the season. ACO isn't going to kill em for such.

That, or pay drivers. Too bad Krohn already took his wallet to Eurasia...

The pay driver situation is probably why they haven't announced their lineup yet. I'd guess that's why. Open bidding to the best (funded) driver?

Hopefully it's close on pace with Toyota and the others. Hopefully they're all on the same general pace so we have good close racing.

Toyota is playing games with the homuncular teams. Indeed they will not show the full hand to Ginetta in testing.

I have no reason to expect the Ginetta to be slow with the design staff they have.

Ginetta will be strong performance wise. I don't think anyone should be particularly worried about the performance part with any of these cars (even Kolles seems... semidecent-ish now), and the EoT will be fine, but it's the reliability that's worrisome... as worrisome as with GT1 in 2010. That's why I still think the Dallara-Zytek of Dragonspeed looks like the car with the most likelihood to still be standing at the end of 24 hours, because on paper the components look somewhat more conventional than with the others. Yes even counting in Toyota. If that waiver-bronze pay driver can keep the thing on track and not screw it up, they'll have a chance.

When joeb makes his FRC for Le Mans, Dragonspeed will be my pick for P1

"Driving duties were shared between Ginetta driver Charlie Robertson and TRSM signed Oliver Rowland, between them they clocked up over 1200 km"
That seems appalling for a three day test. It's possible to do that distance in a six hour race around Spa-Francorchamps. Surely they should have done 2500-3000 km if things were going well. For goodness sake, the Sebring distance record is 2278.85 km.

Usually in testing - certainly this early on - they don't just leave the car circulating the track for eternity but rather take it in and out after periods to make changes to the setup and analyze the data. So 1200km is not that terrible considering...

Of course, full-on racing conditions simulation would be great - which is why skipping the 30 hour collective test opportunity is truly a waste - but it is what it is

I fear they'll be bit too late in the durability curve with all the Oreca stalling, but hopefully am proven wrong. After all, the original 04/R-One did 'fine' in 2014 with not much running at all, it was more 2015 and 2016 that were truly disastrous
