A1 and V8's clash????

Hey guys....

Quote:
The championship will run in the F1 off-season, from September this year through to March 26, 2006.

A1 series dates
Sept 25, 2005 - Brands Hatch, England
Oct 9 - Eurospeedway GP, Germany
Oct 23 - Estoril, Portugal
Nov 6 - Eastern Creek, Australia
Nov 20 - Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia
Dec 11 - Dubai Autodrome, United Arab Emirates
Jan 15, 2006 - To be confirmed (Indonesia or Singapore)
Jan 29 - Durban, South Africa
Feb 12 - Parque Fundidora Monterrey, Mexico
Feb 26 - San Antonio, Texas
March 12 - Laguna Seca, California
March 26 - Beijing Goldensport, China (subject to FIA approval or alternative circuit as directed by Chinese government).
Will this Nov 6 date clash with the EC grand finale? or are they running jointly?

Aww.... shucks....

just realised that the 2nd EC round is now at PI!!!!

Well also, there is still a date clash... How many sydneysiders are going to go to the A1 instead of going to or watching on tv, the V8s? Me for one...

There's no date clash. Symmons Plains is the next weekend after the Australian A1GP.

Bathurst weekend is every motorsport fan's dream - Bathurst V8s, followed by Suzuka F1 and then the Eurospeedway A1GP. Is Channel Ten going to cover all this motorsport in one day??

mixxer has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
They are still trying to negotiate a free to air deal, more likely to end up on Fox sports as a highlights only package by all accounts.

I would put $20 on foxtel getting A1.... and am very very happy about that!!! Fox Sports does a better job than 7, 9 and 10 combined!

A1Gp

Fox Sports already have the rights to the A1GP. They are showing the race on a Sunday and maybe Qulaifying on a Saturday. Channel 7 also have the rights to the A1GP as well. They had the Australian car on Sunrise earlier in the year, just before the Australia launch.

I heard that Channel 7 will only have highlights. Is this correct?

If so that sux!

But at least it will not be on Channel 10. Channel 10 SUCK! All the motorsport should go to another Channel. Maybe it should go to ABC.

ABC=No Adds

They show the CC races early Tuesday Mornings. They should show the races at Monday 10:30PM at the latest. Also the next race will be on a Saturday and they will be still showing the race early Tuesday.

With regard to the programming this is not the case, nothing has been agreed and the talks are on going at the moment.

mabs - We can barely get F1 on at a decent time, let alone ChampCars or the IRL, no FTA TV Channel is going to take a punt on a brand new race series, which some were even sceptical about at it's launch at the Creek a few weeks back.

Motorsport gets a good run on Channel 7, well Sunrise anyway, these days. No doubt due to Grant Denyer. Maybe in the long run this can lead to a return to motorsport of the 7 network in the future (a proper return, not the 'Procar can produce and can pay us to put the tape in' stuff from 2002/2003)

Hope free to air get some rights and actually show the race Sunday night then put a highlight package on the next Saturday. With foxtel showing it live or close to live.

Well they managed it last year with Bathurst, Suzuka F1, and MotoGP all on the one Sunday. Although Beattie and Greg Rust seemed to be a few fries short of a happy meal at times during the 125/250cc racing at 1AM.
