F1Racing Oct has a picture of David Coultard's Mclaren in the grass with a front wing cover flying over it...the mag has blamed his Monza crash and incidents such as these "schooolboy errors" for his downfall.
Did anybody notice this particular incident, if so, at which circuit (looks like the US to me)? |

I don't have the mag you mention, but if you could post the picture, I'd love to have a look at it. It does sound interesting.

I remember in his earlier years he once crashed into the tyre walls, escaped shocked but unhurt. Ron Dennis later said something that the mistake was stupid and amatuerish(I forgot the exact words).
He was the Jenson then and everybody pinned high hopes on him. |

Oops sorry people ....this has nuthin against DC as in, the magazine F1Racing blames MCLAREN for "school boy-like" errors...for eg. the Front-wing covers of his McMerc were flying all over his car during the race!!!!
The covers were on the wings during the race!!!!!! My question is , which race?? Its the October issue of F1Racing (Jaguar cover) Valve, pity i cant scan it.... |

Sure...the covers are the mistakes of the team, not DC.
But "schoolboy errors", does he have plenty, but of course, the one in which he crashes into the pitwall while leading a race (the one that made me laugh my head off) was NOT his error..its the wall's (and the track designer's) error..."bad bad pitwall...tsk!" |

Think on this. If a driver is seated in his car, he cannot see that the front wing is even attached much less if a cover is still on it. It's like blaming the driver when a crewman misfits a wheel.

If I remember rightly it was the US GP, although it wasn't during the race, I think it was during the morning warm-up.

Sorry, it was definetly Spa in Belgium during the Warm-up.
Check the videotape if you have one! I'm sure it was Spa! Yes, it was a schoolboy-error, but a very dangerous one. This one happened at the end of the Camel-Straight. I this part had floated in the public on the many tribunes...omg! |

'Twas indeed Spa. 27th August. You read it here first...
DC's new 'Spa-only' front wing! As I said at the time, imagine the shock of discovering you have NO downforce at all |

it's amazing how the top 2 teams pit crew managed to put together a series of silly mistakes in these couple of years.. In Aust'99, Mclaren managed to tear its pit down after forgetting to detach the Mclaren from a hose, in Nurburg'99 Ferrari gives Eddie 3 wheels, ONLY, Mclaren forgetting to take the front wing cover away, etc.
Heat of competition taking its toll? |

Jean Todt categorically denies that the wheel sitting in his office ever belonged to Eddie Irvine's car. He says it was given to him by a mysterious man in a silver cape ...
Biggest "schoolboy error" of all times - letting Mikey Andretti drive a McLaren just because his father was the worlds most complete racer and threatened to put a horse's head in Ron Dennis' bed ... |
