Something new to talk about

with all the catfight's in the who's better than who thread's
Something about 03
Toyota's release 2morrow
I'm looking foward to all the new paintjob and so on
I'm pretty harsh I don't class new cars as showstopper's ( looks way)
unless they have all new paint jobs . Im not saying they don't look good but I support livery change as mudch as possible inc Ferrari

An early January release doesnt sound good and I dont expect toyota to do too much this year. My bet is that Christiano wont survive more than a year with the big boys.

DeMatta is in for a year like McNish.

Towards the end he will start to show promise, but the decision will already have been made.

As for the launches, are we expecting any major livery changes this year?

They will need something better than a new paint job to go faster.

Well Toyota was in last place last year so anything is an improvement. I am anxious to see the new car though and even more anxious to see the times in testing.

Finally, a heartbeat is returning to the world of F1 after an long holiday season.

The big shots in Tokyo need to realise that they know less about Formula One than the people actually running the team (Howlett, Andersson etc)

First off, Hi. This is my first post here. I have enjoyed reading topics here for the last few weeks and have decided to join in.

As regards the paint jobs, I would love to see Jordan go back to something like the "Snake" nose on their cars, or the buzzing hornets one. Makes the car stand out from the ordinary.

This will be an important year for Brunners' reputation.

A stinker of a design will do him no good at all.

Why does everyone think Da Matta will suck? I won't try to tell you that he's better than JPM or JV, but then again those two are usually in people's top 3 for best F1 drivers. He's certainly capable of being successfull in F1.

Yeah. Give Shorty da Matta a chance.

It's not really the drivers... Toyota, with its money and everything, should be up there...

I can say something about Da Matta after the first race, testing says nothing too me. Yes, he was slower than Panis, but he only tested 1 time a F1 car before, and he was jusing the older car and I believe with an older engine.

DaMatta is no JPM, but he has shown that he is intelligent and with the proper tool he can get the job done. With F1 its a matter of adaptability.
This years CART season was flawed by a number of teams switching to Lola chassis, better teams leaving and Honda's (seemingly) half hearted effort after feeling jilted by the series in favor of big money.

No question Newman Hass was the team to beat (note the inept Fitipaldi's improvement), but Da Matta did a really good job racing.

I fully expect Da Matta to be slower than Panis for atleast a few races. There's a lot to learn and get use to in F1. Panis is a pretty decent driver.

Honda was jilted by CART, but it was stupidity of a certain former CEO rather than big money that was the cause. I would really only consider Green to have been at a big disadvantage. Maybe that's why Andretti was having such a hard time getting past Dominguez for most of the season.

Regarding paint jobs, I am betting Jordan to perhaps change colours if they get that Red Bull sponsership.

Would love to see Ferrari back in 'Blood Red' rather than Orange - red.

Would also love to see McLaren change their livery as I haven't liked their silver and black at all.

However my most detested paint scheme has to be Sauber - change it all!

Actually, I think the Williams would look even better if they use a bit more blue. I think they have the 2nd best color scheme after Ferrari. Sadly though, thats the only similarity b/w the 2 teams!
