Monkey Head should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
63rd Macau GP FIA F3 Intercontinental cup

After Masters of Zandoovrt and couple of news issue it would be alright time to summarize the line up:despite downscale of FIA F3 European championship we expect full 28 cars on the grid with Japanese F3 entries + return of Double R and comeback

list name ordered with team ranking on 1st in FIA/1st in Japanese F3/2nd in FIA F3 and so on

SJM Theodore Racing by Prema (3 cars)
Lance Stroll/Maximilian Günther/Nick Cassidy/Ralf Aron(either one of them will not be there)

BMAX Racing (2 cars)
Mitsunori Takaboshi(?)/Katsumasa Chiyo(?)/Ye Hongli(?)
(look like Nissan not prefer racing Macau with GT Academy Graduates so Jann Mardenborough unlikely there)

TEAM TOM'S (2 cars)
Kenta Yamashita/Sho Tsuboi

Hitech GP (3 cars)
Greg Russell/Ben Barincoat/Nikita Mazepin

Van Amersfoort Racing (3 or 4 cars)
Callum Ilott?/Antonie Hubert?/Harrison Neway?/Pedro Piguet?

Motopark (3 or 4 cars)
Sergio Sette Camera(?)/Niko Kari(?)/Joel Ericsson(?)/GuanYu Zhou(?)

Mucke Motorsport (2 cars)
Mikkel Jensen/David Beckmann

Carlin (3 cars)
Alessio Lorandi/Ryan Tveter/Nelson Piquet(subject to FIA approval)

T-Sport with Threebond (1 car)
Arjun Maini

Double R Racing (2 cars)
Alex Sims/Dan Ticktum

Fortec (2 cars)
Sam Macleod/Ferdinand Habsburg(?)/Ricky Capo(?)

Moreover, current GP3 leader Alex Albon also intended his interest too.

Why do you think Prema is racing with njust 3 cars?
Perhaps Cassidy is driving with a Japanese team then...
Maini with T-Sport is very unlikely as they parted company.

So no very big name in the field...

about Prema case it already happened last year (or 2 years in fact),so don't think they will/can enter 3 cars

Previous news of T-Sport has revealed possibilities of Maini one-off return

Is the race going to happen now that Barry Bland, the driving force of the race since 1983, has walked away from the event organisation?

Of course the race is going to happen. It may not happen to some teams as many of the British teams were only going due to Barry's bless. Race can't be at risk. They won't move the track. As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.

The Macau GP organising committee has now said:

Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix
Preparations are continuing for this year’s Suncity Group 63rd Macau Grand Prix, and the Suncity Group Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix will headline the seven-race programme from November 17 to 20. The Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee (MGPOC) wishes to reassure teams, drivers, sponsors and members of the public that the race will be organised to the same high international standards as in previous years.

THE MGPOC will continue its close cooperation with the motorsport world governing body, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), over a wide range of elements of the event, including sporting issues, sporting regulations, safety and professional training for race officials.

The Provisional Race Programme is currently being finalised and will be issued in due course. As usual, provisional entry lists will be published at the beginning of October.

The Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee would like to express its deepest gratitude to the myriad government departments, the Macau ASN, the Automobile General Association Macao-China (AAMC), for the continuous support of the Macau Grand Prix, and Mr. Barry Bland and Motor Race Consultants (MRC) for their enormous contribution towards the success of the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix.

The Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee holds Mr. Bland in the highest regard, and respects his decision to resign after 33 years. The Organizing Committee wishes to convey its sincere thanks and appreciation for his many years of loyal and valued service.

There are some issues here:
  • The closing date for entries was last Friday (9th September) but no Regulations had been published
  • The cars and equipment have to be shipped in a few weeks but nothing is booked
  • Some of the teams/drivers that were marginal on finance have benefited from Barry Bland's contacts to procure last minute sponsorship deals
  • There will be 1,001 small tasks that Barry and his team would have picked up as a matter of course after over 30 years of organising. Many of these will not get done and the smooth running of the event will be compromised

I'm watching from a distance with great interest.

Well this is a lengthy one. Moving in is risky business. anytime the rules changed, you don’t know how they’ll change you. We take the risk because the payoff can be so great. But the truth is, we never truly know for what we're going. Now, enough with the pleasantries. Time for the dirt. I spy with my many eyes two FIA minnows returning from the East with a pretty new fall accessory

- If the entry deadline was on Sept 9th, it could have been postponed to Oct 9th. We don't know.
- You don't need to book any shipment three months in advance and there are other ways to get into the East.
- Barry Bland helped teams, yes, but was he really the man behind the Casino money? Do not forget that now retired Mr Antunes was the pimp in the house.
- Did not FIA call SRO to do the Macau GT Cup dirty job? They can call Stephane again. It’s better not to know. Plausible deniability.

FIA accepts entries from drivers it then says aren't qualified to race - and who can't qualify!

Add that to getting rid of the free tyre deal for one the teams expect to haw have to pay 5k per car for.

Someone knows what they are doing, not

Well done FIA, at least MRC could always fill the grid as they had plenty of drivers in reserve. You can't even manage that.

George Russell claims pole. Ilott looks very fast in 2nd. da Costa 3rd.

Good to see Camara and Yamashita mixing it up there. Nasty crash for Gunther though...

Good showing from Da Costa as he's probably not driven an F3 car much since the 2013 Macau GP.

sounds like an absolutely righteous lap for russell, but iirc historically 2nd is better for slipstreams heading to lisboa...

hands up if you're going to set an alarm for this one?
