It was excellent. So was his '96 Damon programme and all the season reviews he has done. It mainly centred on the Adelaide GP in '95. He spent some time with Jordan, he even managed to slip into the F1 car and Irvine told him how to change gear, but it was mainly a GP circus programme.

He also did something in the early 80s at the Caesars Palace Grand Prix which was also very good.

I remember when ITV took over the coverage from the BBC and Clive did a season preview with all the drivers in the studio (except Micheal who was on a TV link).

I remember Katyama looking like he didn't want to be there or paying attention. Very funny

Clive James is an absolute god, one of the Sky Travel channels used to show his "Clive James In..." series which included the Caesars Palace GP programme. I have that on tape somewhere, god knows where though.

And how funny is he on the season reviews?

There was also another programme in the 80's where Clive James was entered in a support Saloon Car race at the Australian GP. At that time he couldn't drive so had to start from scratch in a road car. The show was full of the normal Clive James humour and in the end I think he did reasonably well.

I can remeber him inteviewing Alan Jones about his lack of success on the tables in Ceasars and having to go back to his room to get some more money. Classic was when Jones said it had nearly cleaned him out.

Clive James is fantastic, I have the 1986 review and I especially like his French GP comments, "We went down to the beach to make sure our camera equipment was working" cue lots of shots of pretty ladies. His jokes about Christian Danner made me laugh too.

More over, he just seems to have a real passion for the sport and it shines through in his programmes about it.

With all the channels full of rubbish that we have now, you would think someone would repeat those programs.

His 1985 review is pretty odd... Quite refreshing in some ways, but also very jarring at others!

Beats the 1983 review, with that sodding woman shrieking something or other about "Cawfee" every twenty seconds.
