howeveron the gold coast you can get a cheap hotel (under $100), just a free bus ride away
cant do that in Bathurst

my mates stay at a real cheap bathurst hotel. $260 per night minumum 4 nights.

on the gold coast you can do that in a modern apartment for over a week for that price

See at Bathurst I can stay at the $1000 a night hotel in the chase or stay at my firends place on the Gold Coast for free.

I can drink $9 of mid strength Jim beam at Bathurst or simply take a few can of Coke into the track at Gold Coast

Thus Bathurst is significantly more an expensive option

If your not going to compare apples with apples then its not really a good comparison
Hang on there, Pecks. Apples & oranges indeeeeeed. You're also comparing a cheap Gold Coast at ya mates. Versus a dear Gold Coast at xxx bucks a night. .
You can drink a $9 can of rotgut whisky.I'll BYO to Bathurst & save a shed load.

but that the thing. I just gave you the same info but i worked out GC on the cheap instead of Bathurst like you did

Because i dont camp at the track at Bathurst I have to pay track price at Bathurst for drinks, which is the same price as GC

Gold Coast figures will fall even more next year when they bring in these twilight races. No concerts , no draw card for a large percentage of the people that stay in many of the Motels my wifes employers look after. For the last 3 years she has spoken to the guests about their interests and very few were just the racing. Many were party (Drink) and Concerts.
General concensus was still cheap concert at race entry plus extra for music.
I went in 2009, was bored sh.tless due to looking at the cars through a cage and the lack of on track action.
I did not want to see the XXXX girls dancing out of time for nearly 20 minutes on the one spot. Its a bl..dy motor racing event. Bring back the racing. one class off and another on just like the old days or any well run club event.
As a local it is a pain in the butt with just over 10 weeks every year of disruption to the main road in and out of Surfers. It usually adds an extra 20 minutes traveling time into Surfers and sometimes an hour at 5pm to get out past the track just as far as Australia Fair.

In excess of $1m of damage to cars, I doubt that many of the teams that have suffered these high damage expenses can afford them.
Just asking the question.
I wonder what the damage bill was for PI. and for about a third of the crowd of GC

But it's probably 5-10% of the setup cost of GC at a permanent circuit.
