2017 Argentine touring car championships

Super TC2000 drivers:

Chevrolet: AgustÃ*n Canapino remains; Franco Vivian or Bernardo Llaver possible.

Toyota: MatÃ*as Rossi stays; Gabriel Ponce de León joins; Rafael Morgenstern and MatÃ*as Milla likely.

Renault: Emiliano Spataro, Facundo Ardusso and Leonel PernÃ*a stay; Josito Di Palma confirmed; Ignacio Julián and Germán Sirvent likely.

Peugeot: Facundo Chapur and Mariano Werner stay; MatÃ*as Muñoz Marchesi joins; Fabián Yannantuoni likely.

Citroën: PSG16 will run the C4 Lounge as a factory team. Esteban Guerrieri, José Manuel Urcera and Manuel Mallo confirmed.

Fiat: M&M will run the new Tipo as a factory team. Carlos Merlo confirmed; Damián Fineschi likely; Bernardo Llaver possible.

Ford: Privateer team for Juan Ãngel Rossi and Luciano Farroni.

In Turismo Carretera, MatÃ*as Rossi will leave Chevrolet for Ford, which is considered high treason. Norberto Fontana amd Jonatan Castellano have also asked to change manufacturer.

In Top Race, Toyota will enter a factory team with MatÃ*as Rossi and Gabriel Ponce de León. Also, Norberto Fontana and Juan Manuel "Pato" Silva are negotiating to return.

I saw a bit of the Sunday feature race, it was very entertaining.

There were several moderate clashes, so many drivers are angry. So everything as usual.

I saw them too for the first time, a very good championship.

Someone can talk me about the illegal Chevy, Ford and Renault's front-ends? I'm not so informed about the technical regulations of this championship.

That was a very exciting feature race. The winner's car was a mess, surprised it was still fast enough on the straight.
I'm not very familiar with the series, but was particularly impressed with the privateer Ford driver who came from almost last to 8th, and would have done better if he hadn't been spun out half way through.

Apparently they changed rules but didn't tell teams properly. Inspectors went to shops and told them they were fine, then were hit with 30kg at the race.

As always, Argentine motorsport is all about controversy.

Thanks. I read that Citroen wanted them for a bigger ballast. The ambience wasn't so happy in Buenos Aires...

Is there a performance ballast based on results?

No, There is not ballast penalty. The penalty is with turn back positions in the starting grid.
The winner turn back 8 positions, the second 7 positions, the third 6 positions and so on until the eighth that turn back 1 position.

In the next race (Potrero de los Funes) Urcera turn back 8 positions.

Ok, understood. It's something like a reverse grid, a bit different. Is it applied based on the previous event or championship classification?

And when there will be the classification races? All but 200km of Buenos Aires or what else?

The grid penalties depend on overall classification.

Each weekend has a different format, and they decide it more or less the week before.

There are special races that have not penalty.
The 200 km of Buenos Aires have not penalty.
