To be fair, I don't really understand the whole MG thing anyway. As a brand (they're not really a company) MG are selling less & less vehicles in the UK and as far as I'm aware, the MG6 isn't even a current model.
Isn't the MG 'works' deal supposed to finish at the end of this year? If it does, for reasons I've explained above I can't see MG renewing with another model, which leaves '888' (or that small corner of the BMR shed) without a works deal, and so no apparent super-deal continuity for Cook as there will be absolutely no mileage in running the old, bent MG shells any longer.QUOTE]

Two MG's (Chassis V2012-C-0510-001 888-MG-001 & V2012-C-0510-002 888-MG-002) are owned by Lee Mowle. I think the MG chassis No.3 is owned by 888 so MG have no involvement with the team other than branding.

Unlike BMR where chassis C-009-04-BMR-039-01 & C-009-04-BMR-039-02 are owned by Liberty Leasing PLC & Chassis C-009-04-BMR-039-03 is owned by Subaru (UK) Ltd. I don't know who owns chassis BMR-039-04. So Subaru have a vested interest in Team BMR.
To be honest, I don't see what is relevance of who actually owns which chassis with regard to 888's & BMR's 'Works' status.
These are both run as 'factory' teams where the racing team is representing that brand (irrespective of who or what 'owns' the chassis), so each manufacturer (or brand) has (more than) a vested interest in the team on that basis I would have thought?

I think more relevant than ownership of the chassis, is the manufacturer involvement with team activity.
Honda appear to work closely with TD, and there is a lot of cross-promotion between different Honda 'disciplines'.
MG seem to at least be interested, in that their franchised dealers host Q&A sessions with the drivers.
Subaru on the other hand seem to do nothing more than a minor press release twice a year, and leave Adrian Flux to promote via a blog.

When there's a chance of a paid gig, you take it in touring cars.

When can we expect an announcement from Maximum? Seems a bit last minute, is this normal? Shame for Maximum and hope they can get a driver who can match Cook on pace.

He's the one who tested for them pre-season, nice to have an overseas Touring car driver in the series. Especially now Lloyd has gone to TCR. Hopefully Lloyd will show his true talent on an international stage, as others have done before him

I assume Strandberg is in for the rest of the year. All the new stories just refer to him driving at Croft and don't mention anything after that.

I suppose he'd have to be, given the rules. There are a couple of clashes with STCC this year but I don't think he was committed to the full season, was he? (Correct me if I'm wrong).

Anyway, according to btcc.net:

Just no. Who writes these articles?

That's what I assumed, unless TOCA consider it force majeure.

I think Maximum Motorsport would be right to feel hard done by if TOCA don't allow Dennis Strandberg to join them for Croft under force majeure rules.

It is not Maximum's fault their driver has dumped them, when they offered him a seat when there was little chance of a drive in the 2017 season.

Cook should be made to remain at MG for the rest of the season, as it was his choice to move there. TOCA don't like musical chairs.

What number is Strandberg running?, as I assume Cook has taken no.66 to MG.

Shouldn't be an issue with TOCA letting Strandberg drive a Croft. The question is do TOCA allow a further driver change if one Strandberg do the remainder of the year.

Press release for Cook specifically said 'replacement driver for the remainder of the season'.

I believe Strandberg will run as #95.

I personally have no problem with drivers swapping and changing. As long as they are quick enough then I dont see the problem.

Great to see Swedish driver in BTCC, I would love to see at least a few young, overseas drivers in BTCC.
And I hope Strandberg will remain for the rest of the season however it looks like he's only driving at Croft.

Given the last minute nature of the seat needing to be filled I would imagine it could take a while to sort the money out. A good few weeks break after Croft, so hopefully that will help in this respect.

Three Subarus in Top 10 in FP1. Does it mark a turnaround for Team BMR?
