So what happens to all the sports and things, do they continue to be on air, or do some viewers get to miss out on things like the recent A League deal and Big Bash

too early to say. But miss out or re-contract, but less competition so price may be lower

I think after the re-structuring takes place, ultimately the sport will be ok and probably continue as is
It's the overseas content contractual arrangements which are supposedly doing the damage at the moment, and calling in the administrator is a way to getting out of them. |

Some CEO scumbag would be behind the failure of ten, very few CEO's are worth giving the oxygen to.

The main problem for FTA TV networks is falling revenue:
http://www.smh.com.au/business/media...20-gugr6p.html Times are a-changin - with digital tech, people now can and do watch whatever they want whenever they want, legally or otherwise. The above article mentioned VOD experiencing increased growth, and that's the sort of thing existing FTA networks need to firmly latch onto. Not much is going to stay the same for as long as it previously has, and things we've been used to (like TV schedules, even ICE cars) realistically won't be around for all that much longer. |

Foxtel will end up with Supercars and F1, and let's not forget Foxtel had been in effective control of Ten for a year or so now. ACCC should never have let Foxtel take over Ten's advertising.

Given that FTA Commercial TV seems to be in structural decline all around the world it might not be possible to find someone stupid enough to take over the business.Australia is a particular basket case with 3 multi channeling networks for a small population.
From the invention of VCR recorders to the modern day streaming option the number of eyeballs stuck with watching the ads that fund it has been shrinking and advertisers are no longer willing to pay the big bucks. |

Yeah pull your money out
then regroup and buy it back well under price. That's how they do it in construction |

While it would appear that it will be business as usual in terms of what is broadcast by 10 (unless the administrator pulls the pin), the elephant in the room is how much of the tv rights deal may have to be foregone by SCA.
While Foxtel pay the bulk of the $40ish million per annum deal, and depending on how the contract is written, may actually be liable for the full amount. But if not, and there is a separate deal directly between SCA and 10, this will blow a whole in the budget as any amounts outstanding can be written off as irrecoverable with a new owner not going to take on 10's outstanding debts. A new owner is likely to cherry pick as to what parts of the business he takes on, so should the deal to broadcast Supercars not be profitable, 10 may only continue to broadcast on renegotiated terms. |

Watching the Townsville Inside Supercars show with the Live audience and it got me thinking about the 3 Supercars shows that we have on air now.
There's Inside Supercars and Supercars Life on Fox, plus RPM on CH10.. I try and watch what I can each week, but wanted to see what others watch and why or why not? |
