It sold on eBay this evening for £150. Bit disappointed in the price but, well, at least it's gone. The guy is gonna take some of my Montoya cars off my hands too which saves me worrying about listing them on eBay. Which is a relief.

Oh, yes. He's paying me the same amount again for the three Indy cars that I have plus £75 for the Powerade car. He's coming to collect on Saturday and is going to look at the F1 cars whilst he's here. I hope he's bringing his ATM card. He may need it...

A tip for any who collect Hotwheels/Matchbox, these are hung using rolls of plastic hooks that supermarkets use to display additional stock between racks. One screw at the top holds the lot.

anyone recomend any 1.43 wall cabinets that can hold a good amount of models (50 or so???) that are good price and are good make. im badly running out of space for models now and need some wall cabinets or any cabinets to hold my onyx btcc models but in there cases. i dont what prices are good or bad or what makes are any good?

These are the two cabinets I've got with models in at the moment. Like Craig I've also got some "Billy" bookcases with glass doors on but for some reason my other half has seen fit to put books on the shelves

Although to be fair the Billy cases aren't child proof enough to prevent inquisitive fingers "finding" the cars (I've found a supertouring Volvo and BMW being raced around the floor before now

). My supertourers, rally cars and more of the odds'n'sods are still packed away in boxes at the moment.

My collecting style is somewhat random I'm afraid

Generally I've got a lot of "new" DTM and a few of the older ones - the older ones I've got tend to be for quite sad reasons

One is featured in GT4, one raced in the DMN saloons and I've got another in Scalextric form.

I gave up trying to get every car from every year - just too expensive and takes up too much space. The non-DTM cars in those cabinets are just cars I like - some V8Stars, a few Super 2000's and some other random stuff (Megane trophy

). All of my Super Tourers, Rally cars and F1 machinery is still in boxes with nowhere to go at the moment

how much were those cabinets bert?, as i need something i atleast can put some models in safer then what i have currently..

my collection is struggaling on a old bookshelf( you will see my books behind the btcc models! , so you can see why i need something more suitable in a way.

and most of my 1.18's are on a shelf i bought from argos....originally for my hot wheels cars as a kid...but they soon came off for these big things.

They do look good, although they are not cabinets (No Doors) they are shelf units.

wow...for the price, your getting a great deal there, sadly i wouldnt be able to fit one of those at most in my room. anything smaller(simaler but just a bit less then my 1.18 shelf) would be handly like your purchase. more shelfs and glass doors..

I think they were £60 each (inlcluding postage), the company that made them doesn't seem to be in business any more

Interesting contrasts there guys. I often wonder what the ultimate display cabinet would look like that will hold enough 1:18's and 1:43's without taking up loads of space!! I guess a wall mounted one quite high up a room wall would be the best but probably quite heavy!!

I've got a tall thin Ikea (forgotten the name - glass sides and shelves) cabinet with some 1:18's and some helmets etc in, but it really could do with double the shelves for extra storage and rigidity!!

Of course if you were wealthy you could have an entire room or garage kitted out with a mezzanine floor with the display shelves bolted onto it over 2 levels!!

I thought I had a nice display cabinet. (handmade oak, lighted too. It was given as a wedding gift, sadly now taken over by wife's collectables.) But that is great.

Well, well, well... our eldest is four next week and I suddenly realise that, despite intending to sell off my collection when he was born, I didn't do that well at getting rid of them. The cabinets and Montoya collection have long gone but I still have my Senna and Le Mans winners collections in 1:18 pretty much intact. I am just about to push the button on a shiny new office at work and it has got me to thinking. I am pretty sure I could find a space in there for a nice display cabinet! Would be a shame to keep them stored away in the attic for ever! With that in mind what are the latest recommendations for display cabinets? Ikea obviously still have their Billy bookcases and some nicer glass doors than they did so that ,ight be worth looking at. But what of the more specialist products? Any tips?

Wow! Was just looking for something on Google (planning to put the last four remaining cars from my old Montoya collection on ebay) and this photo of my old cabinet came up! It's like a step back in time... to another lifetime!

Pity the Montoya and btcc collections have gone. Still got the Senna cars boxed up I'm the attic Which I need to sell but the Le Mans winners is where it is at now
