Metroman should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Croft Autodrome photos

Following the successful Croft Nostalgia Weekend a number of people have been asking if anyone has photos from the old days. Photographers such as Tony Todd and Paul Boothroyd started around 1970 so have quite good archives but the years preceeding 1970 seem to be an issue.
I know that the Autodrome had filing cabinets full but they disappeared when it closed and Spencer Oliver also took loads but is no longer with us.
Can anyone out there help?

I have a few paddock and grid shots from the 60s. I will post them when I get them scanned. Mostly saloons I'm afraid.

Yes we did but we had Ford Anglia Twincams from 1966 to 1969.

Battle of Britain meeting, August 1967 (28th?):
Ex-Jack Sears Lister-Bristol, Lotus 18? and possibly the Appleton Special Maserati in the background, don't know what the blue single-seater is? If anyone has the programme, they can probably identify Moggie 74. Sadly the scan I have does not reveal the Cortina's registration but we are looking for the original slide.
Maserati 250F chassis 2508, then owned by Alan Bateman. Lotus XI in the background?
I've tried uploading a pic of Tony Dean in his 906 from the same meeting but it's not showing in the preview, maybe because I've already uploaded it to his driver archive thread.

I have the results for the Saloons and 'Free Formula' & Sports/Racing events. The only Lotus Cortina entered was Brian Robinson's ex-Team Lotus car and he won the race ahead of David Smith's Anglia Twincam (ex-Alan Peer car, I believe). The result sheet only gives driver names and race times - no car details.
I was in the saloon race in an Anglia Twincam and rolled it coming out of Tower Bend on the 2nd or 3rd lap writing the shell off and causing my brother and I to miss the 1968 season and most of 1969 too.

I know it is a while since I posted the original thread. I now have, on behalf of Darlington & District Motor Club, obtained about 1500 negatives from Spencer Oliver's collection - the rest apparantly are in the hands of an un named gentleman who won't release them.
I have scanned them and will be slowly uploading them to the Club's history site. I also have just got a load of Autosport from 1975 to 1979 and have taken the Croft reports. Some interesting stuff there that I must admit I had forgotten.
Could do with some photos or reports from the sixties / very early seventies and also the George Shield rallycross years.
