Giovinazzi

Great news that he now has a proper F1 role, though it gives the lie to the FDA income-generating scheme.

But what will it really mean? I bet if Kimi broke a leg snowmobiling, Ferrari would look elsewhere for a replacement.

JABWOA should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Will he get Friday bum time? They do need to groom a replacement for Vet or Raik or both!

Because Ferrari have historically shown a strong aversion to very inexperienced drivers. When Massa was put out of action, they went for Badoer (disastrous but he was their long-serving tester) then Fisichella. In the past 20 years or do, Massa is the only young driver they've really groomed and elevated to a race seat.

Placing Giovinazzi at Sauber would make some sense for the Scuderia.

In all fairness to Ferrari, Jules Bianchi would probably be there now if not for his accident.

Doubt it - Ferrari have said that he might get FP1 runs for Sauber or Haas, but that's about it.

Oddly enough I think Wehrlein is most likely for Sauber now. I was hoping Giovinazzi would have a shot at a Jagonya Ayam Manor Racing seat!

A Merc driver driving a Ferrari engined car and a Ferrari junior racing a Merc engined car? Stranger things have happened!

The relationship between Ferrari and Sauber doesn't seem as close as it once was, and Haas seems to have usurped that position; Gutierrez went from Ferrari tester to Haas race seat (even if he has now been dropped), and if there is anything resembling a Ferrari B team now I think it is Haas. Of course, Marchionne is now saying that Alfa Romeo could be a Ferrari junior team, which would be interesting.

But Haas have Leclerc and Ferrucci which I'm guessing why grandprix.com thought Sauber was more likely as a third driver.
