French GP back on.

IT is being reported that the meeting today with Max, Bernie and the bosses that they have agreed to have 18 races with france back on.

I wonder what, if any, concessions Bernie had to make to get them to agree to this? A few of the bosses were suggesting they were not keen, so it will be interesting to hear the rest of the outcomes of the meeting, especially all the regulation related issues.

Magny-Cours always struck me as an oddity. It hasn't produced too many exciting races, and isn't the most thrilling circuit to drive, judging by the drivers' comments (and my own efforts in GP3). France has a wonderful racing heritage, even the term Grand Prix is French, but surely it deserves a better racetrack. Paul Ricard would be nice if they could get it back up to calibre.

On the plus side, 18 races seems like a managable amount, and it'll serve to reduce the waiting between races. Besides, the races are always better than Hungaroring or Imola offerings.

Yes! The most boring race of the past years is back on!

It's good that we have 18 races back on though. Haven't we got three back-to-back races on next years calendar? Superb!

I don't think there's ever been an 18 race F1 season before has there?

I don't care for Magny-Cours either...but that's the way it goes.

It's an extra race and that's all that counts at the minute.

18 races.....I'm drooling at the thought.

Magny Cours is good in semi-wet conditions.

I remember some great on-board footage from 99 when Mika Hakkinen overtook about four cars in one go under breaking for the Adelaide hairpin.

It was like a computer game moment but for real.

great to have 18 races

...and Magny has as many passing spots as most circuits (1 or maybe 2 at the most)

Yeah good for the French GP. Not having a French GP seemed wrong to me, for some reason. Wouldn't mind Pau instead though. And there are lots more duller circuits than Magny Course, like the Hungaroring and A1-ring.

frankly (no pun intended)- the french GP is where it all started, not having it on the calender is an outright blasphemous heretical tragedy. good its back on.
certain dates should be premanent this is one, UK, German, Italian GP's are the others-more in room for debate are anything else
it was a shame they even had it in peril. Screw bernie and his money grubbing ways- this is great news
18 GP's!
