15 inch slicks

Chaps

Would like a set of 15 inch slicks for my BMW e21 316 trackday car, it's actually a full on race car, just neither wife nor life insurance lets me race at the mo. I had some 13" slicks on my road E21 for a trackday at Croft last year (melted the outer edge down to canvas on the NSF in a 20 minute session), and enjoyed the grip. The "new" car is stripped caged coilovered throttle-bodied and generally race car like, so a set of slicks would be nice. I have several sets of wheels but need 15 inch tyres to go on a 7 inch wide rim. I could buy new ones, but they appear to be £££ and I don't know where to buy, some used ones that would last for a trackday would be best though. I have used 13" Toyo R888's which were as good as the 13" slicks, but sadly my new cars rear brake calipers won't fit under 13" rims.

So - where can I buy used 15" slicks, or cheapish new ones?

Cheers

Jim

Bump

Someone PM'd me with an offer of some tyres but I got sidetracked and then deleted it. Does anyone have any used 15" slicks available??

Cheers

Hello,
I have some 15" slicks that came with my Sierra racecar which ran on 7x15 rims. Will have a look at exactly what I have but I definitely have 1 new one and should have at least 3 others with around 3-4mm of meat left on them (I have about 10 but not sure of their condition). They won't be used by myself as I now race on 888s so I will have a look when I'm next at the workshop. I am near Coventry so not too far away.

I also have a set of 4 15" Dunlop wets that have never been used and a set of 5 good 16" slicks (1 new one) which I was going to put on ebay. Must get my arse in gear and find the time.

Regards

Craig

Sounds interesting. I've found a chap on pistonheads with ex radical fronts but a bit expensive for my current budget. Let me know what you have/prices via PM.

Cheers

£25 a tyre and we'd have a deal. I think they got couriered to me, but I can't recall who was used, or how much it cost. Do you know a reliable / cheap courier?

I've got a set in 580/200/15 (basically will fit on a 15x7 rim) that I bought second-hand from a Britcar team (Mardi Gras) 3 or 4 years ago. They had used them for few laps in a qualifying session, then discarded them as they'd lost that 1/2 second edge. Nice to be able to afford that!

I've used them for 3 or 4 laps of Brands Indy, and both sets have been stored in a dry garage for as long as I've had them. I don't need them anymore as the car I bought them to run on has long gone, and my current car is more suited to the likes of 888s.

I think I paid £200 for a set of 4, tho as it was a while ago I can't remember for sure. If you're keen, make me an offer.

I've also got another 4 older ones in the same size that might be useful for testing, and 3 in 185/585/15 that seem a bit old also but I have no idea where they came from!

Cheers,
Tim

25 quid a tyre sounds good, those tyres presumably have good tread depth as they haven't been used much.

Will PM you to make more arrangements.

Sent Tim some money and he managed to find a sensible priced courier that would carry tyres. Apparently they are too dangerous for interlink express to carry!

Just working out the plan with Craig and I will have a year or so's worth of trackday rubber.

Thanks chaps!
