Sort of like the IRL's leader's circle plan. anything that can be done to help the privateers out is a good thing. Once you get past the Audi's Panoz' and Cadillacs, what have you got? Yeah, nothing. The ALMS is lucky to have privateers the quality of John field and Rob Dyson. but we need lots more. Audi isn't going to hang out forever and Caddy will be gone the moment the win LeMans (if they don't get discouraged first). We can't count on the factories to float the sport, so the privateers really need to be pumped up.
Imagine what group C would have been without Brun, Kremer, Lloyd, Obermier, and, of course, Tim Lee Davey. In fact, without the privateers, we lost the world sportscar championship because there were not enough entries. Get the privateers back out there. If the costs of the cars can't be cut, give them more money. |
