Marshal's Strike!!!!

I'm not gonna be afraid of being replaced at events like the GP cause they are the events where,if all the stories are true,you get probably the worst traeted of all. I shall continue to do the same events for the smaller clubs who,on the whole,have a sound reliable marshaling force and the clubs tend to look after you far better...

Oh Dear! There is avery strong rumour that the above mentioned Bernie has purchased Brands Hatch! Be very very very afraid!

I don't think a strike would work, and it would probably only extend the finish time anyway. I was at a meeting this year where the Marshals simply ignored the back on post time and took a full half hour anyway. That definitely got the organisers attention, and should be repeatable.

I note the last Marshal's newsletter stated that they would support any marshal who chose not to stop beyond 6:30, and perhaps at a suitably high profile meeting the Chief Marshal could be lobbied to instruct everyone to stand down at 6:30, and for a suitable luch break.

Could it be organised so that no-one actually volunteered for one of the more notorious meetings? It would take some organising, but would be effective (or everyone sent their apologies due to the timetable)

How about no-one pays their subs for their appropriate marshal's club until suitable guarantees are given.

Here's a final thought for you to digest. I was interested in crazystu's statement that senior officials are reading this site and movement is expected and I thought 'How about e-mailing the MSA and giving them the links?'

My point exactly, however I have it on fairly good authority from someone I spoke to last night, that it is only a rumour.

I was at the SE region BMMC AGM last night, and the guest speaker was Robin Murphy. He, apart from being a Brian Jones clone, is competions manager for Octagon, well something like that anyway. He gave a very enlightening talk on how hard it is to make money out of motorsport (No! Really!) He is arranging club racing at the 5 Octagon circuits for 2003-06, so Bernie can't be buying it just yet! Not only that, but me mate Peter looked on various French Racing websites for a meeting at Paul Riccard last month, as he was going on holiday there. He could find none, so possibly, the installation of lights etc could be because all on-track activities are non-racing. Just a thought! Robin urged us, as a former marshal himself, to write to Octagon with any gripes/complaints/observations regarding facilities etc at their circuits. May just give it a try...
