It's the first time for a long time that Ferrari have done this.How far are they pushing?,bearing in mind that they need a decent power plant for next season.Will reliability cost TGF the title?

Looked to me like his Bridgestones might be more suspect. 2nd practice they were literally falling apart. I think they'd better have that sorted out before Sunday.

Not great from a racing perspective, but it's nice to see the luck even itself out a bit. Even though I want Alonso to win the title, it'd be a shame if an engine penalty for Schumacher affected things.

Agreed, but the odds are that the outcome will depend on some artificial factor, such as a pitstop, or some pointlessly overpenalised misdemeanour, rather than the relative abilities of the cars or drivers.

this imo is a pretty big story. just so many stories and questions comming together to make this a great battle.
-were Massa and MS running the same spec engine? will it affect MS race strat?
-does this serve as a counterpoint to Renaults engine problems as of late?
-will concerns about having the best engine prior to the freeze in Japan affect the Championship?

this is all just too much to ask for, artificial or not, i havent been this excited about the end of season for a long time (better than '03)

Ferrari suspect this will not signal problems for Michael's engine. The logic behind this is clear.

No, I believe his reasonings there. And judging by the season pattern, he is probably right.

He has grounds for optimism let's say!

But certainly, he won't exactly come out and say Michael has a duff engine, it is hopeless and all is lost.

true their engines have been reliable to date so i should also be inclined to accept his comments at face value.
but is the situation similar to that of Renault's? with the final spec engine before the freeze due by Japan, most of the teams have been experiencing problems with their final upgrades for the year. imo RB response only hightens my uncertainty, rather that allieviating my fears.

I hope the world championship won't be decided by the regulations... Hopefully Schumacher's engine will last the whole weekend, and we might see a fantastic battle between Alonso and Schumi.

It'll probably come down to tyres rather than cars or drivers,but there you go.

Watched highlights of last weekends Champcar race today.The commentators waxed lyrical about how much the Bridgestone option tyre had improved the racing.We can only hope.

i too hope we see a real driver vs. driver battle, but that it be decided upon a manufacture's ability o build a reliable car...is that not inheirntly a part of the competition?
