1950 Shirley Mk1

Yes, really! When I spotted this (again at Rougham, last August) I though it was a Paramount, but close inspection revealed otherwise. Fitted with what was then the ubiquitous Ford Side valve 1172cc which went into many specials and low volume cars of the period. I wonder how many were made, and whether there was a Mk2 version:-

Shirley you can’t be serious! (sorry, horrendous I know but someone had to do it!)

Interesting, very reminiscent of the Jowett Jupiter in body configuration but the styling moreso the Lancia Aurelia spider – would have been a very nice machine in 1950

This car is so obscure it doesn't even appear in Georgano; at least not the 1968 printing. Does anyone have a later version that they could check?

& click the button labelled Shirley!

Nope, I'd never heard of it before, though it seems there are more than 2 knocking about.

BTW Do any of the Georgano books cover specials in detail - he's written so many I was wondering where to start?
