Goodwood Revival

Only a fortnight till the best meeting of the year, I got my passes through on Friday and I can't wait. I'll be flagging at the exit of the chicane all 3 days. So who else is attending?

Count me in - and my father too. The one race meeting of the year he positively has to be at.

Trying for the Friday as well, but work haven't yet let on about whether I've got it yet, and of course now I've let on, a sicky isn't on the cards...

Favourite spot? Watching the fifties sports cars exiting Lavant corner in full drift. Can't beat it.

Peter Hardman? Are you ready for your closeup?

Sorry folks - did seriously consider it this year, but then I saw the cost and was put off. The fact that the Mighty Minis are racing at Silverstone on the Sunday was the clincher... I'm sure you'll manage to have a great time without me though!!

Bear with me here:

I'm a relatively new member here, I currently live in the U.S., however, I will be attending all 3 days of the Revival. I have joined the GRRC and have my paddock passes however have a couple of additional reasons to attend:

I will be attending with my sister, our father, C.T. "Tommy" Atkins was a private entrant in the late 50s and early 60s. I have been in contact with my Dad's mechanic, Harry Pearce, and he will will attending the meeting with us, we haven't seen each other in about 40 years or so, this means it will be a special event for just that reason. Thanks to email and the Internet, I am aware of onevof my Dad's cars that will be at the meeting, it is Neil Twyman's 1957 Cooper which will be featured in the John Cooper parade. The one I am not sure of is the Lightweight E-Type #4, 86 PJ, which should be in the Jaguar parade (it was number 4). This car was on the front cover of the September Motor Sport magazine. What is the best way to find out ahead of time what cars have been entered?

It has been 40 years since I was at Goodwood, from what I have seen I will recognize the place quite easily. I am just hoping that the weather holds as we plan to find a spot on the track to watch the cars and recapture a lot of memories. I am looking for any tips and suggestions from those of you much more familiar with the event than I obviously am.

Thanks

Ursula

My passes are to be sent back....

3 days on a course in Stoke on Trent instead. Shocking. Would have been with Marshal at the chicane... sob sob.

Enjoy everyone else.

I've decided to resign.. it's the only way. Anyway, it makes my brain ache.

I can't believe there's so many race meetings on the same weekend - reckon they must have about 2.5 marshals for teh two day meeting at Lydden.

The problem is dan that they bunch the meetings together and it doesn't give us a chance to plan our weekends does it? I get so infuriated when this happens. For example, for the first time I can remember, there were no meetings at Lydden or Brands on the August Bank Holiday weekend!

I'm at Brands this Sunday and then next Saturday and Sunday, guess who's not too pleased with me, especially as Saturday 15th is our wedding anniversary!!!

Hi there,

I´m currently in Spain in an internet Cafe

I have 1 ticket avaiable for Sunday if any one is interested at cost 35 UK pounds. If not see you all there Friday and Sunday.

Friday we will be there in a 1955 coach with Leed transport down the side. If passing drop in for a beer.

What a great first day.

No less than 5 250 GTO in the TT Celebration. 3 330's incl a very rapid Tony Dron. Lister Jag by Justin Law, plus the lwt Jags peddled very fast by 'wizzo' Williams. A couple of 250LM as well.

Lennox cup with Phil Read, Barry Sheene, Bill Swallow and Mick Hemmings.
Sussex Trophy with Tiff in a Lister, Hardman in an Aston, Dron in a Dino, Williams in a Jag all in a very close fight to pole.

Oh and did I mention the GT40's, Cobra's Healy's, MG's, BRM's Loti, Fords, Maserati 250F's ?

Also thought I saw some Marshall bloke at post 16, entrace to chicane instead of exit at lunch time. Would that be due to the female marshall at 16 ????

Hi Simon!

You have been missed at BTCC. Glad you are enjoying Goodwood. I'll make it down there one year. I will be watching Chris Y race this weekend.
