This move could indicate that the the manufacter that OAK is searching for their 2014 car could be Honda!!!!

Let´s hope so, but in other hand Wirth Research team will do what???

Really happy to see Taku in sportscars. As others have said hopefully this is evidence of deeper involvement from Honda, and hopefully Takuma will catch the endurance racing bug and do Le Mans.

And, of course, not to do what he did on the last lap of both 500-milers this year.

the oak was able to give the rebellions a run for there money last year and the Hpd's are no quicker than the rebellions this year... plus they haven't been THAT far off the pace in the races they have done this year (races, not qually) so i don't see any reason for them not to be right at the sharp end with the quoted 30 extra horses behind them and actually being able to use them without fear of blowing the engine to smithereens lol

Seems possible though that they'd be able to compete reasonably with JRM and possibly the #13 Rebellion.

The Oak-Pescarolo appears to be a solid chassis performance-wise, but conventional wisdom still holds the ARX-03a's driving dynamics are the best among customer cars wouldn't you agree?

With you on this. The fundamentals of this package are very very strong. Genuinely looking forward to seeing what it does.

Leaving aside the argument that the Wirth chassis is optimised for the engine I still think Oak have really got to grips with the Pescarolo chassis, and given the bad luck they've had in LMP2 this year can't help thinking there's scope form the dice to really fall in place for them.

Agreed. And didn't the Oak finish on an overall podium last year in an ILMC race? Really like the looks of the car too!

Japanese race fans are more aware of Le Mans than most people think.

When it comes to chassis, the OAK-Pescarolo has shown very good cornering speed, and the Judd V8 is lacking in sheer grunt.

John Dagys has some news about Oak's plans for next year: http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/artic...-debrief-fuji/
Quote:
Philippe confirmed to SPEED.com that their LMP2 car will continue to be known as a Morgan next year, and that its contract with HPD for the LMP1 engine supply runs through the end of 2013, meaning that OAK would likely have a presence in WEC again.

The December 2012 edition of RCE has an interview with John Judd: http://gb.zinio.com/reader.jsp?issue...&prev=sub&p=26

Judd admits that Oak Racing were let down.
Quote:
We certainly didn't do a good enough job for Oak in P1 or P2. In LMP1 we had an internal component failure that shouldn't have happened, and P2 they were leading the class and suffered an engine problem. We run the standard BMW road car valve springs and in the race the end of one of the springs fell off. If you look at a valve spring, you have to ground off the end so that it's flat, and it tapers off. This batch of springs had been ground down thinner than usual. The thin end broke off, which hadn't happened last year, or this year, but it got into the scavenge pump and sheared the scavenge pump drive. It is fair to say we should have put something on there to stop it happening. These aren't high-stressed racing springs. We were a bit unlucky that this bunch of springs were like that and it failed on Oak's engine, but that is life.

Well , hats off that Judd is man enough to swallow his pride and openly admit to this .

Im sure that Judd will regain their former form . But TFSI and Hybrid is now the new deal .

Their now possibily talking about a V10 ..... lovely , and that Oak is a charming little car to the eye .

I was very impressed the performance the Oak cars put in at Le Mans. They have put in some work to make that car competitive and most importantly reliable. This got me thinking, will their Le Mans showing gain them interest from a manufacturer in building their 2014 LMP1? I don't know if there are any manufacturers that are looking for somebody to build them a car, but if there are Oak has to be a top choice.

Ahead of '14 the team had to make a statement and they did exactly that. They proved their professionalism and that they can get the job done. That can't hurt when kicking off the new P1 project.

With all these new P1s being built, you hope or suspect that at least one of them will hit a certain sweetspot in the design to make a fast enough to pick up the pieces from the manufacturers, like Pescarolo in the 2000s.

My money would be on OAK.

What odds on an OAK-Renault, with the new Renault F1 engine? Seems like a logical all French tie up to me. Renault get a toe in at Le Mans without having to build a car, and can increase their involvement if they like what they see. Or am I day dreaming again?!

They'll have to wait till '16 for the engine - so everything could have changed by then.

This Le Mans was the coming of age that Oak has been seeming to be on the cusp of for a few years. Absolutely commanding job. I don't know whether it's enough to make them a serious contender to run a factory programme (because those aren't falling from trees yet) but I don't think they could have produced a better advert.

Obviously the chassis and the race team were up to it, but I think they also showed very good business acumen in assembling their driver lineups. They obtained 2 of the very fastest and most consistent Silver drivers out there and also showed (and received) good loyalty buy running 4 pros who'd all driven for them last year in some form or another. I don't think that would be lost on a manufacturer either...

Just because a press release said so? If he hadn't have said that he would have had Christian Horner etc all over him.
